Hi all

I have a 1977(poss 78) Yamaha RS 125 DX. Headlamp bulbs last less than a mile before the high beam pop shortly followed by the dipped. My mechanic has checked all the wires and corrected some earthing errors but it continues to happen. He has as good as washed his hands of it now.

He did sugest the regulator could be at fault but I cant find mention of it anywhere in Haynes or on the web. Even Yambits who are generally good for parts don't know where it is. They are insistent that it is not built into the rectifier. Does it even exist?? I assume it must have one...if so where??? Is there anything else which could be causing the problem?

HELP....seems like it should be a simple fix but I'm struggling to even get the info to get started.

Thanks

some of the early bikes didnt have a regulator, if you cant find one this may be the case with yours...havent you got a haynes book then?

Perhaps the battery is fubared, the battery will sink away some of the excess but if it's low on electrolyte or sulphated it wont do so

we have a @new Member' forum for intros ya know :)

Thanks I'll check the battery................and the new members forum.

I would have thought my mechanic would have done that though whilst checking the wiring. Starts and sparks fine so and all lights seem ok otherwise so Im not sure if it will be the battery. Worth a look though.

I do have a haynes but keep being told that they dont have all parts listed. Suppose I should get a parts list! Any one fancy scanning one for me!!!!!!!??????
