back of the pack jack Posted May 2, 2011 Share Posted May 2, 2011 hi, i have a 1986 dt 200 that i purchased during the winter. found it on kijiji. drove 200 miles to get it. problem is, 1- the bike never actually ran, although it sounded like it wanted to go, it just sounded flooded to me, there was frsh snow on the ground so we couldn't try to bump start and 2, while the giant of a man that was selling it and kicking the bike over to start it , the bikes kick start stopped returning to the top. he phoned the bike shop on both 2 circumstances and for #1 problem he thought it was the needle and seat, as i did too. and 2nd they felt it was just a rewind spring and it sounded reasonable to me aswell. he gave me a hundred bucks off on each problem to allow for me to get it fixed which i thought was preety reasonable so we loaded it into the pickup. now not only dosent it run when i take it to my mechanic, he phones me and tells me i better come and have a look at this. couldnt believe my eyes when i got there. case is busted right from where the cases join and also twisted up a bit, to right over and down underneath the anchor for the kickstart. my question is why wont it run. for a while after i brought it home it would start and run perfect time after time for short jonts around the yard. and then all of a sudden, now its acting like when he was trying to sell it to me.i think its spark, stator - cdi - coil. does any one have the ohm specs for the stator? rest of the bikes clean. phoned buddy he wont take it back!
