indicator wattage on ybr125

hi all, first thread here :D , although i have found this forum damn useful reading up about the YBR125..

anyhow, wanted to ask y'all a quick question.

the factory indicators on a ybr are 10w, according to the owners manual, but aftermarket ones, by oxford, are 21w..

would that be fine, considering its only a 11w increase, and bearing in mind that indicators aren't constantly on. also the wiring on the harness seems like it can handle it. :unsure:

any opinions? :unsure:

(btw, im changing to these, because ive got a set of spotlamps, and couldnt find anywhere to mount 'em - but the normal indicator positions - as a temporary fix, the indi's are cleverly mounted on using sellotape :lol: ) will post up pictures if anybody wants any ideas/inspirations (when bike gets back from mechanic) ;) ...

10w is unusually low for indicators, is this a haynes manual by any chance?

21W is the norm or you could go LED and use an LED control flasher

I think if you fit 21w bulbs your indicators may flash faster.

Now then " iv just M.O.T."d The old 400 [passed. ] Point is it failed last week & one thing was "turn signals" Too fast [120 flash per min] is max .... so the options

1 . Fit another unit [ original is soldered 3 terminal] spare 1 had 2. :(

2 . replaced rear bulbs [ off RD400] 12 v /21w. DT400 is 6V/17w.

BINGO Slowed repetitions [ Increased resistence ] Rears were slightly dimmer but hey shes thru MOT.

NOW FOR THE REGISTRATION ... <_< HOPINGLY BY TOMMORROW NT. :rolleyes:

drewpy, 10w is from the handbook, the proper yamaha one - clicky clicky for a link for the same thing - but as a pdf.. to the end (page 8-2 and 8-3)

id like to go LED, but really not too keen on spending too much :mellow: .. if they somehow manage to blink faster, i may need to get some sort of controller - then it'ld be time to go for LED's B)

im MOT free for another two years (07 plate :icon_wink: ), but ill wire them up anyhow, without mounting them, and just count if its under 120 flashes/min :icon_biggrin:

The normal wattage is the one prescribed by the maker, and that is 10w for the YBR125

Biger wattage = slower blinking (or flasher reley burned)

If you put LEDs on you should change the flasher releay 'cause LEDs need a special flasher (due to very low consumption) or a spesific resistance (in serial junction).

i tried fitting arrow indys a while back

and they didnt work at all

good luck in getting smaller indys.
