  1. Hi I've started a new project a couple of months back, and im close to finishing but running into a few problems so i thought i'd start sharing my progress to get help, and maybe even help others from this experience. I'll start with a couple of pics to show what it was and where im at. It was a chopped down, sought of chopper hybrid, thing. really ruff. in massive need of some tlc. I am making it into a Cafe Racer. I have so much to learn. This is when i got it: Here it is with the new fiberglass seat ready for fitting: Just after it was painted last week(frame, tank, steering clamps, seat): Getting motor in and front end on: Now placed tank and seat onto see what it looks like: I got wheels on today, Im having problems with the wheel axel setup, as im not sure whats meant to be in there in the way of spacers... I think it was missing a few parts when i got it. the last guy had no idea. anyway, i will post again with updates and questions. Laters.
  2. Hey guys, I want to take my 98 diversion and turn it into a cafe racer style ride. I have removed to fairing and notice there is a lot of stuff nicely hidden by it, and I have no idea what it all is and ho to reroute it all. can anyone suggest where to start?
  3. hey guys! I representing the shit have hit the fan, i have a b reg xs250, and nearly all the carb parts and things alike stopped being easily available in like 82. desperately trying to find carb to block manifolds for 1985 xs250 se. so far to this collection of love and cuddles i have, cleaned carbs (need cleaning again) restored the front caliper, changed pads, changed rear shoes, changed sprockets, changed chain, currently in process of leathering the rear tail plastics and the side plastics, have replaced old air filters with conicals, have a motad 2 into 1 pipe, changed front wheel bearings. i've test ridden her, brilliant fun and a nice yet tame roar when building up in revs . however, i am still rather novice with mechanics and such wonders, how would one up the air fuel mixture to stop running lean? and has anyone seen yamaha xs250 se carb to engine rubbers? much appreciated guys, discuss
  4. I thought that I'd finally get around to joining the forum after being lead here multiple times by google searches looking for advice. My name is Luke and I'm from Australia. I have 2 Yamaha's First of all a 1985 SR 250 I'm close to having registered And secondly an 1987 FZR 1000 which being the sensible person I am....and not having access to anything else I learnt to ride on. Unfortunately I have dropped it twice.....Both times just pushing it out of the way in the garage,The good news is that i havent damaged it bar a tiny, barely noticeable dent in the tank. The FZR doesn't have any fairings as it was bought naked, I'm considering an R1 tail conversion on it but I don't have an R1 subframe or the know how to do it. But the good news is that i may be starting a metal fabrication apprenticeship soon so it may happen.......In say 3 years when I can trust my life to my welding skills!! http://www.facebook....92&l=815e0409e2 The SR250 I'm undecided about..... I was going to Cafe racer it but I bought a Virago fender and partial inverted it and (from behind at the very least) it looks good. The SR also has new chrome indicators I have installed and a new tail light....Which will be installed after i pass rego just incase the inspector feels rather critical on the day. I try and post some photos and also go more into detail in the projects thread. http://www.facebook....92&l=df976199e3 http://www.facebook....92&l=496f057db2
  5. Hey guys, In looking for some advice in converting my Diversion, into a Perversion (cafe racer). are there after market parts out there that a novice to customizing, like myself can get it started? I'm pretty good with engines etc, but the rerouting of wiring and all that other stuff in the current fairing has me concerned? any pointers?
