  4. Hi Jim I did not retime it but its running fine and that will be a job for another day. It was easy taking it apart, most things are When I changed the shims I needed to, and I went to put the camshafts back on, They would not go back on cos there was no slack in the cam chain, so after trying and more trying, I came into the house and shed a few tears and had a think to myself, I have started something I cannot finish. Then I went outside, had a little think about things, then the brain storm came , take the chain tensioner out DOR Then it went back together. I did have to take the caps off a few times untill I was happy the lobes were in the right place. Then given it a final check one more time and happy everthing is where it should be, put it all back together. My engine did not go bang. Happy days as they say. Michelle.x
  5. Well , I am a very happy bunny cos my bike is now running.... .....so I have give myself a pat on the back cos for me , that was a big job, doing the valves. Not bad for women. Michelle.x
  6. I also know my tools , well most of them. What I mean is, I do not have to move when I am working on my bike having a hunk to pass them to me . But that would mean I would have to find a man that knows his tools.. cos not all men do, I grew up on a farm so my dad was a very good teacher. Michelle.x

  9. My dream garage Inside would have an R1 in pink.....lol..... and lots and lots of tools. Heated, as I work on my bike in the cold on the concrete. Oh and not least, a gorgous hunk to hand me the tools I need..... .... Michelle.x
  10. Oh yes please, more info would be great. [email protected] I do not want to pay £££ ...lol.....x
  11. Hi Jim This is my first time. I am only going to take the back crank out and I thought as long as its all setup when I take it out and I put it in the same, everything should be tip top. So would I have to check the timing then with one of them light thing me bobs...lol?? Michelle.
  12. Hi Its water cooled, Sorry I have my last post wrong, the front valves are spot on. The intake valves should be 0.11 but pot 1 is 0.10 and 0.08 / pot 2 is 0.14 and 0.14 / pot 3 is 0.08 and 0.10 / pot 4 is 0.10 and 0.10. You would think they would have an 0.11 pad /shim so you can just put in. Do you think i should order 8 valve covers as well ?? . Do the pads / shims go flatter with wear ??. I am asking this cos maybe I should purchase a michrometer?? not sure. I think this should be done cos 0.08 is just to tight so i will just have to see what the pad numbers are. Many thanks and anymore advice would be very greatfull. Michelle.x
  13. Hi all, While I am sorting out my clutch, I am doing the valves at the same time and I got the top off today to check the gaps and they should be 0.21. I cannot get that feeler guage in, only one of them a 0.15 and some 0.10 ( Sorry this is Exhaust valves ) and the other ones not even that . Why would the gap be so small and none of them at 0.21. If anything, I would think the gap to be bigger for wear and tear ?? . I have not measured the front ones yet . Could anyone give me some advice please. Many thanks Michelle.x
  14. Hello, Many thanks for your kind help, thats a lot better than paying 300 pound . Michelle.x

The bike is in almost showroom condition though. You have an R1, WOW very fast I bet, I think an R1 would be to fast for me, also my bottom would be eating my thong...... .....did I just say that.... ..... . Wimbldon, not been that far over. FZR Carbs

Hi and thanks. I have got a manual off e.bay so I am just waiting for it to come. 99p not bad but the post on it is over 7 pound, lets hope there are no pages missing, I have had carbs in bits before cos I have had bikes from a young age on the farm. But I have not taken 4 carbs off before, so i am a little concerned. Your right about having a screw left , I would be upset and I might scream scream and scream . On the hole my bike goes really really well , we went out for a nice ride today, it just splutters a bit in low revs , I will be very carefull,, sorry i did not see your name. Many thanks Michelle.x
  24. Gosh, it all cost so much now. I am glad I passed mine when I did cos things realy stared to change. Would I like to go for my test again and would I pass!!. Michelle.x
