  1. chack the basics first. 1. it turns over 2. there is a spark 3. there is fuel Once you know you have yes/no answers to the basics then the actualy fault tends to be easier to find.
  2. although not familer with the bike myself and not having a manual that old for it I did some surfing for the answer. The ratios are from 32:1 -> 40:1 -> 50:1 with the popular choice @ 40:1. Going on pure 2-stroke theory (yes I was a mechanic) too much oil will cause rough running and foiling of the plug and baffle. Too little oil will cause extra engine wear and overheating (yes the oil does produce a cooling effect on the engine). If you cant get a definative answer then I would go with 40:1 and keep an eye on engine performance (power will fade if overheating) and the state of the plug (or oil dripping from the exhaust).
  3. You need to select 'YamahaClub Gallary' forum this will take you to the photos upload section. Resister there (instant activation) and then you can create gallerys and file uploads etc using the relevent links.
  4. Nice to see you got the girl on the road (oh and the bike too) I love my XV1100 Virago I can perfectly see whay you like the XV535 too. Wish the missus good luck for the test, it's a nerve racking time, but soooooo worth it at the other end.
  5. ohhh almost forgot. Take a look at my 'PioneerX Manuals' (workshop forum) tread you will find a link to my manuals site. I have the Clymer & Haines manuals for XV535 as well as parts lists etc. Feel free to download what you want from there.
  6. Welcome, I too had to a 'break' from biking. I'm returning after 8 years off and got myself a XV1100. I hope you enjoy you XV535 they are a lovely bike.
  7. Personally I'm not a fan of cut and welding for controls also consider the impact on the value of the bike if you cut pegs off and re-weld them else where. The best way to do it is to put on a 'foward controls' kit this will bring the foot pegs and controls further forward on the bike, which is a big help to talker riders. 8. Sorry mate, I have no experiance of them.
  9. My new bike has been collected and returned home XV1100 Virago - 1993
  10. Unfortantly I'm still trying to locate a service manual for the FZR600. I do have the FZR400 the loom might be the same, take a look and see if it helps. http://www.files.pioneerx.co.uk/index.php?...torbike%20Files
  11. Milky oil is caused by water in the oil that is then 'emulsified' (sp) by the oil pump. The most common places as you sday are the head gasket and the water pump. However a leaking head gasket can often also cause a blowing piston and therefore cause the engine to be low on power due to poor compression. Personally I would change the pump or at least it's gasket first as this is the simpler, most likely and cheapest of the possible reasons for milky oil. ohh btw maybe http://www.dtr125.net/ is worth something to you.
  12. yeah, the most likely is the bike or clock has been imported and is actually running in KPH not MPH. if the face has been replaced then the MPH would read right, but without changing the gearing mechanics inseide the odo will still count KM's 20m * 1.6 (miles per km) = 32km.
