Today i was at the petrol station and saw a R6 with what appeared to be a red bull can around this part of the bike..... can anyone tell me what this part actually does and why the guy had it done? it looked a bit odd, just wondering if it was safe to do it?

Hey guys, just wondering if you could help me please? I have an 06 plate R6 (2005 model) and have just bought an Akrapovic slip on exhaust for it. I got it brand new for a really good price but it doesnt include instructions. I'm not at home at the moment so cant go and see the bike to try and make sense of it. I have fitted exhausts and things to cars before so quite good at the DIY. Firstly, can anyone tell me how the standard can comes off? which tools do i need? and secondly how does the akrapovic can fit? From what i can see i have the actual can, a link pipe, 3 springs and something which looks a bit like a jubilee clip. Is it worth going out and getting some wd40 or similar? Any help would be great. Even though i am new i'd be interested in showing. All my carbon is in the post so will be here within the next few days. 2005 R6. Also used to be involved with showing my car alot. Was in Best of Britain with Autoglym at Donnyshow and also a few others including top 100 at NEC. If it helps i have contact names and numbers for the meguairs and autoglym show and mag reps.

lol yer, to be honest i wont be buying one again for a long time. I'll investigate this site some more and try to get involved with meet ups and stuff

Hi, i'm Steve, 21 from Grimsby. I go to Sheffield Hallam Uni doing Quantity Surveying. Just bought my first 'big bike' which gets delivered to me next week. Its a 06 plate R6 inblack. Not got too much planned for it, just a few carbon goodies. Recently sold my car which was a mag featured show car corsa but i think i have been shown the light with bikes. I'll get some decent pics once it arrives but i'll post up the ones i have now. Cheers, Steve
