  1. Would you say it's worth fitting a steering damper to the new R6? This bike won't see a track day. Heard it's prone to shaking a bit. thanks

  3. What's the new bike like then? Had you had / been on an R6 before this one or just had the 125? What's the ride like - every review going says the new bikes are far too firm for the road. Would you agree?

Yes Phil, you can do it on a Honda CB500. You get to use their bike, with full kit and caboodle - race leathers, lid etc etc. Full pre track briefing, 2:1 tuition on track. Followed by a handling course. Ron is usually about, sometimes Leon mucks in too. £179. www.haslamraceschool.com Cheers

    2003 R6

Thanks Matt. On another post you say the earlier ones tend to be a bit more twitchy at the rear. Does that include the 03 or pre 2003? Thanks

    2003 R6

Any thoughts on the 2003 R6? Particularly like the limited edition yellow and black model. Should I bother with this year bike just because I like the paint job? Does it have any bad habits? Are there any areas where it's better than the newer 2007 model? Thanks

Anyone over 14 can now do it on a CB500. If you're used to riding a 600 regularly then a CBR600RR is supplied. After that they'll let you on a Fireblade.

Hi mate, sounds like a plan to me. Where did you get your quote from for £1200? Ron Haslam runs a trackday / race school at Donnington, you can use their bikes and all their gear and pick up some one to one tuition too. Will also be helpful when it comes to road riding as it teaches you real life high speed handling techniques. Full licence not required!!
  9. Thanks that's useful, wasn't sure about phoning them as I don't want to alert them that there might be an error. I'm 25 and first bike from direct access, have ridden when younger on 125's but insurance wise it'll be my first year so approx 650 fully comp. Slightly apprehensive with the whole powerful first bike thing but I will take it steady until I get the feel for it. Thanks again
  10. Thanks, the policy is fully comp with most things included. Just thought it very strange that there should be a huge difference between R6 compared to CBR/GSX-R/ZX etc when every other site has them at same cost.
  11. Hi, Thinking of getting a new (07) R6. Have been on a couple of insurance websites looking for quotes and one in particular offers the R6 at approx half the cost compared to other 600cc sports bikes. I've checked that I've put my details in correctly god knows how many times. Personally I reckon its a mistake within the website and how it calculates the premium eg, when I put in YZF-R6, it really thinks I've said something that resembles a hairdryer. Do you think the insurance company can make me pay the extra if at some point after I've purchased it they realise the error. Do you think there is an error or is it me? I read an old review from 2002 that said 'due to a bizarre insurance mix up I had to sell the bike', and i don't really want to be in that position. Any ideas?? Thanks
