  1. Hi everyone.. I have a 96 Thundercat, the silver and yellow one. I'm not too keen on the yellow and would like to change the colour. The front mud guard is not such a problem as i can just replace this with a black one. I have noticed that the yellow on the lower fairing and side panels seem to be declals rather than painted on. Does any one know if and how to remove these. If any one has already done this can you let me know if the fairing is painted underneath. Failing this can anyone direct me to anywhere who supplies replacement decals to put over the top... Cheers, Richard
  2. Greetings from across the pond...... The advise given so far is spot on. If you have never ridden before i wouldn't dream of going anywhere near an R1 untill you have at least a few thousand miles of riding under you belt. I have just got back into riding after about a ten year gap. I rode bikes as a kid and into my teens in England and abroad and i have opted for a YZF600 thundercat. This might not be the first choice for all new riders but i think it is a very good first bike. It handles well, is very forgiving and comfortable so you will not get pains and tired too quick. As i said i have ridden before but i consider myself a new rider and therfore plan to start off slowly at first and build my experience back up. I plan to get an R6, or should i say, wanted one now but i am showing restraint and patience which hopefully crosses over to my riding. You will soon build up your experience and confidence to get the bike you want. Its better to start of safe and ride than sit in a hospital ward looking at posters of bikes.... Definately look into taking some sort of advanced driving course. good riding mate...
  3. Thanks for the info. I am going to get ACF50 as i was told already how good it is. Can i ask you, how often do you apply it.i know its says it lasts for 12 months but do you have to reapply after you wash the bike and also, do you spray it everywhere apart from the discs. Cheers
  4. Hi everyone.... Can anyone tell me what the best tyre pressure set up is for my bike. I have a 96 YZF thundercat with dunlop sportmax d207's on it. Many thanks
  5. Hi all.... can anyone reccomend the best chain lube. also is there a product out there that will protect bikes from the effects of salt and dirt when riding through the winter... cheers,
  6. Cheers for that mate... i dont intend on running it that low anyway but just wanted to be aware of it
  7. Hi, i ride all year round and i find that the tyres dont perform as they should when cold.. no surprise there. A general rule that i use is that the tyres should be at temperature the same time the bike takes to warm up, which for me is about 4 miles or so. If your journey in the cold damp mornings is for a journey shorter than this then technically the tyres wil not warm up by the time you reach your destination
  8. been away from biking for a while and just got back into it. got myself a 96 yzf thundercat. I'm a nightmare for lettting the petrol run low so was wondering... can any one tell me roughly how many miles are left in the tank when he light comes on.. cheers
