  1. Thats ok mate, i think i might have found myself an ohlins that would stretch in!! Just need to find the cash now!
  2. Will an FZR1000 shock absorber (part no 3gm-22210-00) fit an 99 YZF Thunderace? any help appreciated!
  3. will an R1 shock fit my 99 thunderace? Any replies appreciated.
  4. look in google for the Thunderace mail list archives, there is also the YZF owners club. i like my ace alot, but, as with every bike, there are niggles! With mine the clutch doesnt bite till the last cm of travel. The clutch rattles like a bag of nails, ive replaces the plates and springs etc, with no benefit. Depending on how you ride and what youve owned in the past you may find it a tad slow. Go down 1 tooth on the front sprocket, it does the trick for most people. The rear shock gives up anywhere between 10-20k and its not cheap to replace, believe me, im looking for a shock now. For long journeys i find the clip ons still give me alot of grief, ive fitted an LSL yoke with risers. If you ride "Sport" alot of the time a rear suspension jack up kit is a big must, everything wants to scrape on the floor. Hope this helps.
  5. Try pyramid plastics, or look on e-bay.
  6. 1986, Honda CB900 on the Cat and fiddle with about 12 others with no brains. Sun shining, beautiful scenery and a pub at the top to stop check your underwear! Brilliant!
  7. Everything from hard house and techno music to Leonard cohen and russian drinking songs. Same as with bikes, love it all so long as its good.
  8. HA! well bugger me, the Suzuki downloaded! I will try with the Yam.....again!
  9. And as with most things, you think youve cracked it and..................... Followed the idiot proof instructions, downloaded pictures, clicked continue and nothing happens! but on top of the screen it says...failed to open directory in home/alexf40/public_html/gallery/upload.pht on line 406! Hope this helps!
  10. Was confused for a while, then worked it out. As with everything in life!
  11. Thats a damn fine motorcycle! I nearly bought one of those instead of the Thunderace! But the ace was slightly cheaper and seemed to offer more for my money.
  12. Going back to oil...........I do not cut corners or scrimp with any of my bikes, each is maintained, almost regardless of cost and every winter i strip my bikes down to chasis and engine, clean and lubricate everything. But.....at the begining of this year i started to use semi motor oil. My reason for this was i was paying about 60 quid every three month for bike semi, i was getting clutch slip and the bike was burning oil. Over the 3 month period i was constantly topping up the degrading oil with good. Now im using motor semi which is a quarter of the cost, so i change it every 4 weeks, by which time the oil has not degraded and i have no more clutch slip or increased engine temperature. Putting cheaper oil in but changing it every month must be better for the engine than buying expensive and leaving in for longer periods.
  13. Supermoto is the way to go, alot of my friends are selling theyre sports bike and buying em! We are all constantly paranoid about losing our liscences due to warp speed antics! Carpark nuttiness, thats the future!
  14. Shit, just as i thought, im still being screwed!
  15. Just got my road tax bill, 117 euro's, i thought, bugger, thats expensive! But when i think back to what i had to pay to keep my bikes on the road in the uk, it seems cheap. Road tax for a litre bike 117 euro's (75 quid) Insurance (3rd party) 237 euro's (160 quid) MOT....it doesnt exist here for bikes! 235 quid to keep a litre bike on the road for a year doesnt seem so bad after all! How do your costs compare?
