  1. i guess i should fill in some type of profile. don't remember if they had one. Anyway, i'm in wonderful, sometimes pitiful, New England, east coast, Massachusetts, 40 miles west of Boston. 51 yrs young, Don't have alot of riding experience, but not riding for transportation, pleasure rides mostly. My approach to the activity was with safety first. I took a riding safety course thats offered/recommended here and after you pass it includes the motorcycle drivers li and a 10% reduction in insurance rates. So far i've done pretty good, i'm told. also feel pretty confident in my riding. There are some areas that i practice because i'm not happy with my operation. slow cornering and some traffic situations. I think the bike and how easy to drive it is helping. Before this spent most of my free time/money, fishing. Mostly salt water and new york state for salmon. Big fish only please, i hope anyway. I wa in the process of upgrading my boat to something that i could overnight in. Got tired of trailering 100 miles to fish for a day. In the process of loking for boats, it actually has been happening for a few yrs now, the price of gas was approaching 3$ a gal., almost double, a weekend fishing could easily use 100 gal. Now it wasn't becoming so easy to go fishing EVERY weekend. Friends were unwilling/unable to help out EVERY wekend, i couldnt carry my guests tab all the time. Long story made short...was priced out of another sport. i didn't want a boat that i used 5x a yr. I loved fishing and wanted to do it all the time i wasn't working. Wasn't going to work the way i wanted so had to look for another hobby. A few friends ride and i've always wanted to and discussed it quit often at the bar.sure glad i didn't do it when i was on that side of the bar. Wouldn't of lasted long. Now that they don't save my stool anymore and needing something to get the adrenaline moving on my free time, i got the bike. BEST THING I COULD OF SPENT MY MONEY ON. I'm having a ball...
  2. I recently purchased a v-star650 custom 2003, joining a club/forum is always a great way to get info on bike and research troubles, if any. I see alot of posts from the UK, is this site originated in the UK? or have i missed something in my settings. Enjoy reading all the posts and wish everybody well. Paul
