  1. Trust this at your peril... After a quick 2min google search: Capacity: 425 cm3 (15.0 Imp oz, 14.4 US oz). Oil Level: 143 mm (5.63 in) From top of inner fork tube Fully compression without spring. Grade: Fork oil 10WT or equivalent. If that means anything to you. Taken from the 1987 FZR1000 service manual
  2. Yeah, don't worry about other bikes, we're not elitist, just look at my profile on the left lol. I've been riding since I was about 10 (1978ish) on a Yamaha TY80 on the beach... And as it says, nothing legal from then till my Thunderace about 5ish years ago! I'd like one of those t100s. What colour is yours?
  3. Hihi, welcome in! Being a full member is mainly the ability to chat in the extra members only section and getting a discount on your Bikesure insurance... But, considering the low, low price, why the hell not? rofl
  4. Unless someone has specific information (having swapped, or tried to swap one), your best bet is to contact Yamaha. Or... Failing that, I tend to go on Fowlers and look at the part number for the two items. If the numbers are the same, it's the same item, if not, then it's probably not going to be a straight swap (if at all).
  5. Don't get me wrong... No matter how comfy and relaxed the Thunderace is, it still IS a full fledged old school superbike!!! Something to take it gently with at first!
  6. The obvious choice is to take it to 2 or 3 different places, and see if they all say the same thing...
  7. Tomintoul is e-mailing me a copy, I'll harvest e-mails from those that have shown interest and forward it along... Thanks Tomintoul!
  8. Congratulations! So, baring that I'm quite biased on this question, but... You can't go far wrong with either a Thunderace (YZF1000R) or a Thundercat (YZF600R). Crap loads of fun with power to spare to get you into trouble if you're not sensible. But are comfy to ride. I too have a bad back (lower back) and don't have a problem with my Thunderace (I get about 1.5hrs ride before I need a break and a stretch). They're dirt cheap and whilst various parts are no longer available, a couple of months rifling E-Bay usually brings up anything you need. You haven't mentioned how old you are. If you happen to be 50ish, the insurance is STUPIDLY low! lol And if you join this Forum as a full member, you get access to a discount from Bikesure (special phone number in a lower Forum)... P.S. To obliquely answer the question you posed in your other Post about your XSR speedo not working. First thing I'd do is make sure you've not shredded your cable. If it's gone dry and run out of lube, it will stick and then just get twisted off. Check that first before digging into your electrics!
  9. Agreed... Posts removed, can't remember how to ban him!
  10. I remember those... Well, fully done up, it would be worth £3500-£4500 ish. How difficult parts are to source I wouldn't know though. If I was you, I'd probably at least start. If you can get the engine going and it riding right, that would be your true starting point for deciding whether to do a full rebuild.
  11. Yup, sounds like fuel issues like Neo said. Protect your battery (don't run it dry) and keep trying. It may burn its self out. Alternatively, does your choke feel normal? Cable could have snapped or got stuck... If you can keep it running long enough to warm up properly, and it's happy at that point, it could be the choke.
  12. Other than some pretty battered original 3into2s, this is all I've found so far: YAMAHA XS750 XS850 76-82 FULL 3-1 STAINLESS EXHAUST CLASSIC MEGAPHONE SILENCER | eBay YAMAHA XS750 XS850 76-82 FULL 3-1 STAINLESS EXHAUST CLASSIC STRAIGHT SILENCER | eBay However, a little more information would be good. What exactly have the chromers done to your current exhaust (pictures would be good)? Also, there appears to be 3 versions which is it? 3G9, XS750F, XS750SF?
  13. If after you have joined the Forums as a Full Member, you find you require your Membership Number, you have TWO options. 1/ Find the confirmation E-Mail you were sent when you joined (the number is on there). 2/ Send a polite PM to Alex (or one of the Moderators) asking for it. We don't live on the Forum and do have lives (and bikes) that take up most of our time, so you could have an answer in minutes or days. If you haven't heard back within a week, feel free to give us another poke.
  14. Refunded in full & Banned. Probably the easiest answer...
  15. Ok, first off, don't 'pal' me either on the forum or in PMs... If you don't calm down and speak politely, all this won't be an issue because the next infraction will result in me banning your account. Right, since I see no other posts attached to your account, I'm starting from scratch here. What is it exactly you're after? Is it just a membership number? If so, what is it you want the membership number for? The only thing I can think of is for the insurance discount. For which you don't need a number. As I said before, just phone the listed number in the bikesure section and that flags you as a member. Has someone asked you for your membership number? Ok, I've done a search of the site looking for this issue and it appears that we moderators have no access to that level of site accounts. You have apparently done all you need to do to 'get' an account number (contacting YOC (ie. Alex)). And now you wait. This is not some big fan site, with hundreds of people active every day. This is just a random group of bikers shooting the breeze and shuffling around advice. And... We also get a discount on our insurance while we're here. Sometimes, stuff takes time. If Alex hasn't answered in a week, he's probably either away, busy or on the road. In which case, getting a response isn't going to be instantaneous. As far as I can tell, I'm the only person here that religiously checks the Forums 'at least' twice a day. For instance, it's taken me 4 hours to see and reply to this post today because I was in the hospital having exploratory surgery. And have been in too much pain and too stoned to check... If you need an answer to something urgently, a second nudge or asking 'politely' in the forums is the way to go. Coming in blind spitting and swearing is not the way to do it! Alex has been contacted by at least two Mods, as stated, he will get back to you... IS THERE A RUSH REASON ON YOUR REQUEST?
  16. Ignoring for the moment the attitude, I'm not even sure we HAVE member numbers. If you think you're wanting it for an insurance discount, you don't need it. Just phone the special number listed in the Bikesure section... Alex goes abroad from time to time, I have sent him a message. Sit and wait for an answer.
  17. In that case, your best bet is to pop into your local Yamaha dealer, they'll know... They probably won't even charge you anything for doing it (but don't quote me on that! lol).
  18. From what I can tell, turn your ignition on, hold down the select button...
