  1. Update: I fixed the hanging idle. One of the intake boots had a crack at the bike that I could not reach and leaked air like crazy. I patched it with some RTV sealant until the new boots would show up. The bikes idles nicely now and comes back down nicely.

The issue with the 10K rev limit is still present. As soon as I hit 9-10K, I start to feel a slight stumble and it soon falls on it's face. It pulls really nicely from 2-8k. Having cleared the main jets of any clogs, I am going to see if the petcock or fuel pump are not performing as they should. I am fairly confident that this is a fuel problem, but if anyone has experience this before, please enlighten me. While I had my carbs off, I reset the float height to 14mm as I found that it had been set to 11mm.

  2. A few days ago, I took my 1994 YZF750R for a spin and couldn't get it to rev above 10k rpm. Just the day before my ride, my dad drove it to his doctor's appointment with no such issues. I figured that one of the main jets must have gotten clogged, so I took it apart and cleaned it out. The main jets all seemed to be clear, but I blew the passages out with compressed air and carb cleaner just to make sure.

After installing the carbs again, I have a horrible hanging idle that hangs at 7k. It revs fine now but will not come down. I checked for air leaks in the boots and the balancing lines but everything seems to be air tight. There are many threads that show up about a hanging idle, but what confuses me is how well it was running before. I will note that the previous owner deleted the EXUP system (I got it as an abandoned bike). Thanks in advance.

  3. Still the same problem...I let the engine run with the radiator cap off and topped off the radiator. I took it for a run and my radiator is now only 3/4 full....the reservoir is full. When I got back, it spit out a puddle of coolant on the garage floor. My radiator cap keeps it pressurized nicely, but it still likes to spit out of the overflow. I am sure that my cooling system is hooked up correctly. My temp never went above 70 C.

  4. I took the bike out for a spin yesterday and checked the coolant levels once I was back and it was cooled off. I filled the radiator before and after removing the cap, the radiator was only half full. What surprised me is that the bike didn't overheat (70 C all the way). My reservoir under the seat was full and I couldn't find any wet spots one bike, unless they evaporated. Even then, I did not notice anything after turning the bike off.

  5. Update:

I replaced the oil, coolant, and put good fuel in it. After a little coaxing, I got it idle nicely and let it run for 3 hours ( I made sure the temp was always in the normal range). I think it managed to clean out the minor gunk by itself because like I said, this bike was running before it was abandoned. It's been 2 days since my last post and she starts very nicely now...hot or cold....usually no more than 3 cranks if even that.

Next thing to see is if I can tighten the clutch...it doesn't disengage all the way.

  6. I honestly can't tell you. I received it from my neighbor...someone abandoned it in his yard, but it had a clean vin and I got a salvage title for it. I did have it running about 4 weeks ago, but that required copious amounts of starter fluid. Once it warmed up, it idled fine at 1150 and would start up if I turned it off.

  7. I have a '94 YZF750R that won't start when it's cold. It turns over but never catches. If I remove the airbox and place my hand on the carbs to choke it, it comes to life, telling me that it is too lean and not getting fuel. Is this correct? I would like to note that the choke was fully engaged when I start it.
