  1. Would be interesting to know whet you ended up doing. What I did with mine is fit a swing arm, fork and wheels of a Suzuki Slingshot, makes it easier to fit larger wheels, can run a 190 in the rear without any issue, and extends the rear wheel a bit so can put a bit more traction to the road. Also fitted a R1 tail section.
  2. Just an update. Got it turning perfect. All I did was move the intake cam one tooth towards the intake as to prevent cylinder 4 from opening the valves so quick, and it worked. Had to tow start the bike as it was standing for almost 6 months now. Still have a problem with cold start, but suspect it might be the battery or a fueling issue as on first pres of start button it sounds perfect and then just swings, will have to take it for a lekker ride to see if its battery.
  3. If you turn it clockwise doesn`t that mean you turning the engine backwards?
  4. I have yes. All I found is either in another language or for a later year model.
  5. I dont have a manual. Stuff are hard to find in South Africa. Should I align the cams according to the marks or according to the lobe directions? And I found 2 marks on the crank, one that is like a cut out piece and the other is a marking, which one do I use?
  6. Tried that aswell. No luck. when you turn it you can feel it stop. Feels like it hits something, thought it was a valve as I took a video of each intake to make sure and one looked open. Took it all apart again and removed valves to check. With head of engine crank turns around no problem, if I combine the heads 2 parts the cams can turn but not as easy as crank, once I put all together it gets stuck. But not from the start. It will turn a bit, sometimes a full rotation but mostly just around half way and less Engine is currently on the bench.
  7. Hi guys. Need some advice and help please. I have a 88 FZR 1000 with some problems. Bike is slightly custom as its a 1000cc engine in a 750cc frame, Suzuki slingshot swingarm, front shocks and wheels, with a R1 rear end. First some background. Bike started to struggle to start when cold, so much that it had to mostly be towed to start as push start wasn`t fast or constant enough. When it did finally start it really idled very rough and sometimes just died again. Was told its the starter so replaced it. Same problem persisted. Then got told its the shims, 3 mechanics later that is finally set(supposedly) After bike got back from last mechanic we had to replace the starter`s brushes because when you pressed the button it sounded like it struggled to turn over.(They were shot) All done bike still didn`t start. Was told to try and turn the motor by hand, but the motor just sticks. So what was found out so far was when head and cams are off the crank turns freely. Replaced the timing chain as it hasn`t been done since I`ve bought the bike nd not sure when previous owner did it. (Length wise it wasn`t longer than the new one, but when put next to eachother you could see old one is stretched.) Thought problem was fixed . . . . . .. . . . . . but nope. Everything back together still no luck. Engine starts turning and then just stuck, (can turn backwards but have been told its bad for the engine.) Am I maybe missing the timing marks or can it be something else? Then also where will I be able to get a decent wiring diagram as I don`t think mine has an indicator relay wired, and there is a connector that just goes to nothing that I`m not sure what its for.
  8. Hi All I would just like to introduce myself. I`m Flippie(aka Flipster) from Sout Africa. I currently own a FZR 1000 Genesis, but have always loved an R1(Even though my first R1 almost killed me)
