  1. Thanks! I was being too gentle with it, I gave it a couple good whacks last night and it came right off.
  2. Hi everyone, I went travelling in India a couple years ago and rented bikes multiple times, and despite the dubious condition of many of them, I have wanted to get a bike ever since I got back. Finally this summer I have had the money and time to buy a bike and fix it up. I got a 1981 SR250 in pretty good condition and have been learning to fix it up, which has been a lot of fun (and money). So far I've just opened up the engine and replaced a cracked valve and the gaskets, and am going to do some de-rusting and general cleaning up. I also have to get my motorbike licence... all in good time. Thanks in advance for the help!
  3. It didn't move at all. It seems like the problem is the spring moving independently from the valve, because it does seem to give a little when I tried hammering it with the valve free to move.
  4. I recently bought an sr250 to fix up, took the engine apart and found the intake valve was cracked. I bought a replacement for both valves as it was almost the same price. I was able to remove the intake valve spring without much trouble, but the exhaust valve spring isn't budging and I ended up bending my valve spring compressor (admittedly a cheap one) trying to get it off. I was wondering what might be causing this and whether this would be related to, or the cause of, the crack in the other valve. The engine seemed to be running fine when I bought it 2 months ago. Thanks!
