  1. I do like the 650, I always had a bit of a soft spot for them, saw them as an updated (read reliable and oil-tight) bonneville LOL always fancied a little bonneville hardtail bar-hop but 12K for a donor bike was never gonna fit my budget. 1200 got me a really clean xs back in 2009 and that 650 twin chop project is finally gonna get back underway. I'm rather excited
  2. a quick update, for anyone who's interested... a complete set of mounts, nice condition, right model year, came up for auction on eBay in the states. I contacted the guy and after a brief 'back n forth', agreed a very fair price. he stuck a buy it now option on the sale and the rest as they say, is history. £50 including priority shipping... chuffed as f*ck!
  3. some good ideas there, cheers guys..
  4. thanks Drewpy, I appreciate the reply. I had tried the shop.de site and they didn't have any listed.. hugh's handbuilt were shown as out of stock heiden tuning only had rear mounts speed and sport was by part number and quite pricey if it's the 'motor stays' they list under thr frame section. so... anywhere else I can look guys? I keep an eye on ebay too, and would ideally get them from UK to save on the postage (and import duty??)
  5. cheers slice ... and drewpy. and I did start a thread in the classic section too, so I'm glad that was the right place
  6. hi all... I'm trying to source engine mounts for a 1981 XS650. they were lost during a messy divorce and I'd love to put the whole filthy episode behind me by getting the old girl back on the road (the XS, NOT the ex - she can burn in hell!) anyone who can help, please step forward
  7. hi all... thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Gollum, biker for many years, and currently own 3 Yam's (see topic title). I've arrived here in search of some bits, which were lost when the ex-wife and her boyfriend stole and sold (for scrap!) the majority of a pristine 1981 XS650 which was stripped down in the garage. I managed to track down most of the bits they took but the engine mounts had already been sold by the time my detective work led me to the scrapyard in question. so, if anyone can come to my aid, and point me in the right direction, I'll be in your debt Gollum
