  1. my 1992 xv5352yl started coughing and spluttering dirt in the carbs I suspected some job to get them of even worse ive heard putting them back, anyhow I stripped them down cleaned everthing went to set the mixture screws two of them totally chewed to bits could not move them so ithought I will look at ebay etc see if I can pick up a fair price set of carbs as rare as hens teeth ,the only decent pair I saw was £249 but they had been rebuilt but the buyer said the front cylinder mixture screw was seized and could not be moved but he said its at factory setting and he said t they ran ok on the bike that he was breaking when I had my old 38 year old cm 400 I could get a set of carbs for under 40 quid canny believe its that kind of money for a 25 year old bike anybody want to swap a virago for a decent Honda cb400 superdream lol
  2. hi i have a 1992 xv535 virago ,i would like to swap the sidestand for a longer one anybody know if a stand from a later model which has a longer stand would fit my bike or one from a xvs dragstar i know the bracket may different but as long as the stand will fit
  3. hi i have a xv535 2yl with original handlebars ,i would like to try straight handlebars would i have to alter cables etc or will the just fit
  4. hi anybody fitted front fork gaiters ,I always fit gaiters to my bikes , what I need is the size of gaiter to fit my xv535 I would need the diameter of the uoter leg tube and the diameter of ,the inner tube and the length ,ive tried a cheap pair from e,bay but they were to tight and now have ripped any help appreciated
  5. hi it may have been asked before ,but will the wheels from an xv500 fit my xv535 the xv is an 1983 and my bike is an 1992 if they do fit would my existing tyres fit the alloy rims of the xv500 any advice gladly accepted
  6. hi I always pull the clutch in when I start the bike ,now when I let the clutch out its making a kind of a rattling noise ,its not really loud ,I had the csame sort of noise on an old cm 400 Honda I had and it ran fine is this maybe normal as the bike has not been run for a while because of the weather
  7. well the non resistor plugs have arrived bp7es now should I use the original caps or the new ngk ones both are resistor type but have different ohms
  8. the solution may be to use non resistor type plugs bp7es which I believe were originally used in xv535s
  9. hi cynic I'm still a bit puzzeled my owners manual the plugs are bpr7es now if that is correct it is a resisted plug and the original caps are resistor types too ,now the Haynes manual states the plugs are bp7es which are non resistor type puzziling
  10. I just unscrewed the inside of the original caps and there is a small ceramic resistor inside some say to take it out and replace with a piece of metal is it ok to do that or would it be best just to leave the original caps as they are
  11. meant TO SAY I PUT THE ORIGINAL CAPS BACK ON I TAKE IT THEY ARE THE NONRESISTOR TYPES
  12. hi cyncal have put non resisted plug caps back on bike started ok but then again it started ok with the resisted ones I'm not a dab hand with a multimeter but there was areading of about 9.200 ohms
  13. hi cynic that's the reading I got on the xv535 caps would it not be different on a dt I will go back and check but the new caps I got were ngk xb05sf-r
  14. anybody know the sparkplug cap resistance should be on a 1992 xv535 2yl ive got used coils and leads and they tested fine but would like to know if the caps resistance is important the plugs are ngk bpr7es
  15. thanks neversay I'm not to adept at using a multimeter but the old coils that's if I done it right showed a reading of 4.1 ohms whereas the new ones were 2.1ohms what do I set the multimeter at for secondary
