  1. Thanks Keith Just can't find it on parts list if it is a plug for protection against freezing, although that could make sense. Someone else thinks it may be a vent hole from the spark plug area - so any water falling down where the plugs are can drain out. That makes sense as well. Will know for sure this weekend. Going to collect a few spare engines for the bike and some other bits. One of the engines already stripped down. Will soon be able to check a head to see what it is actually for. Thanks Julian
  2. Folks See pic, 2MG cylinder head, the hole circled in red pen. What is this for? Any idea? A tell tale? There is one each side. I have a very, very, very, slight coolant leak out of one of the holes only, clutch side of engine. Machine does not run hot at all. Fine on a long run. It is not chucking coolant out of there, but leaking never the less. Just want to know what is up this hole! Doubt it should be leaking from there anyway. Is it an indication of a head gasket going?. BR, Julian
  3. Ladies\GentsI forgot how rubbish 80's lights were back in the day until I got caught unexpectedly out in the dark on the 2MG, the one with only one candle up front - talk about scary! So bought myself a US spec twin candle job on ebay, for cheap. Someone had run it with 60/55 bulbs rather than the 35/35 that it was designed for in the US, but a mate got the glass off the front (good old John) without breaking it to see for any damage. Not excessive, some small heat damage at the top and general pitting and scratching. Probably be OK as is actually, but must have good lights (already got the 35/35 HID Hi/Lo kits) just in case I get caught out again. And if I'm this far in, might as well do a proper job.So, to the question - anyone got any experience of good suppliers that can chrome plate or chrome spray or vacuum coat the original plastic bowls? To a nice shiny finish, better than a Halfords rattle canI have whacked off a few emails tonight to various suppliers, but would be keen to know if anyone has any good experiences of this type of workCheers,Julian
  4. Thanks guys. That's the fuel question answered. I am up in Aberdeenshire, myself - spending money on eBay on manuals!
  5. Hello folksJust coming back to Motorcycling after a 25yr layoff, bit of a mid life crisis maybe.Bought myself a 1998 UK FZ750, only 25,000 miles, taxed and MOT. It's a runner, all original apart from wheels and brakes which are from a later Yamaha - can get better rubber, which is no bad thing.Anyway, not scared about fettling it, but would be handy to get a Haynes manual or the like if these things exist. Or available as download from somewhere? Any advice? One last (stupid?) question. Back in the day when this was new, we used to be able to buy unleaded. Would this machine required unleaded back then, and hence an additive nowadays?Looking forward to your help etc.BR,Julian
