  1. What happens when you add a superbike engine to a 80s tubular frame......................................... http://www.kijiji.ca/v-sport-bikes/victoria-bc/yamaha-rd1000lc-rd350lc/1178752627?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true# ...........and its hideous to boot, im not a hater by nature, but WTF was he thinking,
  2. l would start with making sure you have it timed correctly. Bike should run on 110psi, ive had bikes that have run on less, not to be confused with ''well'', but they have run.
  3. l put in Vauxhall Viva and it came out with '' 1, there is always one idiot''
  4. Ahhh very good, i do like a bit of the Nordic touch.
  5. Without wanting to start oil wars, there is a lot of misconceptions about what 2 stroke oil does, it does way more than just lube the engine, yes modern oils can be used at far ''thinner'' ratios than back in the day. BUT the oil does more than just lube the engine, it also helps ''seal'' the combustion cycle and create more power, theres a great abet long winded test on this (it must be true cos it was done up north by men when such types wore white coats), it was found that the most power on a midsize 2 stroke single was around 22:1 . The myth that this will turn it into a blubbering mess is bollocks, that is tuning. All my pre mix bikes have been tuned to run at 25:1, this is because im a simpleton when i comes to math and its easy for me to figure out. This however is personal preference, l run Dino oil in bikes that where built to run on Dino oil, and syn oil in bikes that where designed and built for it, why, cos its logical
  6. His throttle timing/control is appalling,

    A 70s icon.

So, this Sundays ice cream run was at a fast/ish but majestic pace. l love these barges, loads of torque a truly wonderful sound and quite quick considering they weigh the wrong side of 700lbs wet. Smooth as silk just eats up the miles, as long a the road has many gas stations.
  9. My lists have a list
  10. l have a 99 R1, ive noticed they dont like low oct fuel or old plugs. Also, just because spark plugs are new dosent mean they are good, swap them out for another new set. and yes, i know what a PITA its is For what its worth the best thing i did to my R1 was fit a ''lvans jet kit'' and use his tuning specs i now have better idle, more torque lower down and the front wheel isnt quite so airbourne. l do not think it makes more power, but it most certainly makes the power you have more useable. Also the engine smells better after its been hammered, just a nice hot oil smell, before the was a hint of burnt in the smell.
  11. lve got Oliy Tom making the gears for me, comes out to less than it would than it would have been to buy them from Yamahahaha if they where still available. Spoke to him on the phone, nice bloke. l will always rather give my money to the small shop over the big corporation. Thanks again Blackhat. Will start a thread for the resto...................when ive finished the Z900 resto faark
  12. lts a historic piece in my eye, so i didnt run it out in all gears 141 GPS with more left in it. With only 500 made, i would be surprised if there 250 running, a lot have been butchered, made into stunt bikes etc.wankers, thats what modern midsizes are for
  13. Yup, i think its would be a tad naive or arrogant to think we are the only ''intelligence'' in existence. Whether they can reach each other/us is another thing all together, and if they can, lets hope they are far less combative than us. From an objective view to an ''outsider'' we wouldn't exactly come across well, well intentioned at best, along with destructive, with the intense desire to spread/expand, perhaps the best we could hope for is an exclusion zone, the worst...............................
  14. Thanks Gents!! l will get right on it, Blackhat, how much did it cost you to have your too gears made? Both have now been messaged...............................even had time to go for ice cream, significantly faster than last time
  15. Thanks Sacha, i had forgotten about them, i have used them in the past also, great to deal with, but alas they dont have either. lve dropped the shop in Russia a line, they want $470 for $257.99 gear, but as they say ''beggers cannot be choosers''
  16. 1971 CS3 200cc , predecessor to the RD. it has electric start LOL And about the best drum brake on the front ive ever some accross
  17. No, its a holiday here, but i do know that the gear/s are only for this bike and the 1988 RU, approx 1000 units total worldwide, obliviously they made more gears. The bike has been off the road since 2005 due to a sprocket cover, lower left fairing and these gears damaged and the notations i have from the inspection say all parts are unavailable. l have found one gear in a shop in Russia, im a little dubious of sending $470 to Russia, anyway they havent replied yet. l will ask my dealer and a few others that im friendly with on the off chance that they have one collecting dust or a customer that has parts bike. lve found one guy who had a whole bunch of parts that he sold to a race shop, again closed for holiday. None of the big parts brokers Partzilla, boats.net have any. So im just looking at options. lm braced for heavy fiscal impact of the negative verity, no doubt will end up getting them made, and then finding them a week later on evilbay for $50. l always like options, as i know that the first one is always going to be the most i have to pay l know that the listed dealer price is $590.98 +taxes +the ride when they where available
  18. Naw, that would be a vid of the pair of them running surely ..................................on that note, does anyone know of a engineering/machine shop that can make gears? You know what these things are like, i would rather send them halfway round the world to a recommendation, than pull a firm out of the phone book!
  19. Thanks Lads, lve already decided to get the parts bike back on the road, as you may have guessed, its the hunt, rescue and resurrection that really floats my boat. So i will out the good one when ive enjoyed it for the rest of the brief season here. When i spoke to matee on the phone he said ''the motor of the parts bike is in bits'', my heart sank, then he siad it was taken apart in a shop by a old German bloke, i perked up a bit, everything is in little labeled bags............................now theres a first. But after being on the road for 20hrs yesterday and up at 5am to watch the GP, im a little to cross eyed to examine them closely LMAO
  20. Ok, i cannot contain myself. 2x 1987 FZR750RT 2 of 500 homogation specials, One will be totally bone stock, right down to orginal grips and windshield shortly ..................the other one, not so simple, has a blown 3rd pinion and wheel gears, and they are one year only model specific. lve ridden the rider a bit, its a blast. lts the magic of my 700 quid trailer that does it. The hunt begins
  21. Dude, ive seen that live at Mardi Gras, with blokes in the full 'Mr Slave' rig, Rasies a smile without fail here when i see the wanna be tough guys on there Hardleys wearing them
  22. l think thats what is known as a ''brown moment''.
