  1. I think you can get aftermarket reg/rec's for reasonable money these days .
  2. Usually the manufacturer will give differing quantities of oil depending on whether the engine has been rebuilt . had an oil change only , or had an oil and filter change .
  3. If the window is coated and you don't want to remove the cover you'll just have to change the oil and fill with the recommended quantity . As stated above , it could be that at present the oil level is above the window , in which case you'll see the level after the oil change .
  4. Make sure your tyres are the sizes recommended by Yamaha , and that the pressures are correct . Sometimes mixing tyres from different manufacturers , even if the correct sizes , can have a bad effect .
  5. You may find that you'll also need new throttle and clutch cables and that you may have to lengthen the wiring for the switchgear and maybe new brake lines , depending on the length of your new bars . Try to measure before you do anything drastic .
  6. Also , if you keep the oil delivery tube below the level of the Scottoiler unit all the way to the chain , it will save you having to bleed the tube whenever you let it run out of oil . Did you get it working ?
  7. Hi there , If your bike has a vacuum type fuel switch , you can "T" into the rubber vacuum tube with the little plastic three way fitting . If not there is usually a crosshead inspection screw on one of the inlet flanges . You can get a small brass fitting which replaces the screw , and the Scottoiler vacuum tube goes onto this . You'll be delighted with it . I was a courier and was getting ridiculous mileages out of chains with them . I used any free/ cheap clean oil I could find in it and never had a problem . Hope that helps .
  8. The spray cans of carb cleaner work really well . When you use it , put a tray underneath and catch the stuff as it drips off / oversprays , it's expensive stuff . let it soak and then get busy with old toothbrush . The coke and vinegar ideas sound much more pocket friendly though .
  9. Hi there people . Does any body know if the fuel tank from the air cooled RD will fit the LC ? My tank is made of rust , weld and fibreglass , leaks like a sieve , and is finished in a fetching shade of JCB yellow . I reckon it's beyond economical repair and second hands are hard to find . If anyone has any ideas , nice one ,
  10. Hi there , does anyone know of brakes from a modern(ish) bike which could fit , or be made to fit , my LC without too much fannying about ? The originals are bunched !! Cheers in advance .
  11. Hi folks , the brake calipers on my project LC are pretty much shot beyond recovery . I was wondering if anyone would know if brakes from any modern bike will go on without too much messing about ?
  12. P.s. This interweb thing is great , isn't it ! When I was trying to get parts here in Ireland years ago it was a nightmare . Now you can get everything at the touch of a button .
  13. Hi everyone , I'm Kevin . Longtime courier/despatch rider , I'm 44 riding since 17 , picked up a 4yr ban 5yrs ago (in a car) and I'm making some shapes about getting back on the road . I got rid of my trusty CB500 when I got nailed . So with my options limited by my ahem, limited means I have decided to resurrect the 1982 350 LC that has been lurking around in various locations in the folks garage for the last 10yrs or so . I had given my bro a tuned but tatty German import LC which I got as a part ex for another bike (Jeebus , but that German thing could move ) . He bought another LC to use as a parts donor but after riding it home discovered that everything on it was shagged . This then is my inheritance , bro' said I could have it if I wanted to put it on the road , nice one 'bro . 'Bro has since restored the German LC and she's a beauty . Next week I'll be sending the crank off to Chris Applebee for a rebuild . I'll keep people posted on my progress if any are interested and I'll be gleaning info from the forums , Looking forward to meeting you folk .
