  1. That was one of my main concerns, but i am only talking about taking the pea shooter out and most of the people i have spoke to say it should be fine. sorry i should have already mentioned that fact.
  2. Hey you have just given me an idea mate, do you know where i could get a full set of pipes from ? That would save me fecking about.
  3. Cheers for the replies gents, I think i will just take out the baffles and see from there, as i said it does sound a lot better since drilling the holes so with the baffles out i should be happy enough.
  4. Yeah i new what you meant mate, i was being sarky they have suggested taking the baffles out, so thats what i`ll do me thinks. I have already drilled first 4 then 6 holes in each pipe, and it does sound a lot better. So i think i will go the whole hog and gut em. EDIT: BLIND
  5. Already done that my mate, what i need is one of them metal hole saws and i can get it done then. Hey thinking about it you are a neighbour generally speaking, so come on i am all ears.
  6. Cheers, That may be an idea. The other thing i was thinking was just de-baffle the existing pipes (any thoughts would be welcome) I am just after a better sound.
  7. Hi good people, I have a question regarding the down pipes on my bike. The thing is i want to install some slip on exhausts, and after looking at the ststem yesterday to get measurments etc, i noticed the rear pipe behind the heat shield is a lot narrower than the front pipe. How could i install after market pipes, when there is a noticeable difference in the pipes diametres ?? So to sum up, the front pipe just looks like it could be chopped and a slip on installed, but the rear pipe behind the heat shield is too narrow. It has got me baffled, if you would excuse the pun, and i would love to hear your good feedback. Thanks in advance, Terry.
  8. Yeah thanks for your reply, i have seen that the oil filters are readily available and don`t understand why they don`t do air filters.
  9. Hi guys, Just wondering if any of you know if there is a k&n air filter for the xvs 125 ? I have done a few searches and it seems like you can get the k&n for most models of bikes including the xvs, but not the 125. Thanks in advance, Terry.
  10. LOL i love it. The pannies were on the bike when i got it btw.
  11. as promised here is my new baby, all cleaned and polished.
  12. Ow do mate ow at ? I`m up on the yew tree estate beef, born an bred. so closer to the ruggy club.
  13. Thanks for the advice nsd, actually that is what i plan on doing. I won`t touch anything for a while, but if one day i fancy giving the bike a bit more throat, well at least i now know what pipes to get etc (thanks to you guys) and to be honest i will let my local bike shop (steve ives) fit them for me. lovely fella he is. :-D
  14. Yeah i hear ya noise, and yep i learned a lesson that day and it won`t happen again. It was just that we turned into the 20 zone off a main road, and i didn`t see the feckin sign. by the time we came to the first speed bump, i new i had fucked up. But like i said lesson learned, and test failed but who knows maybe i will give it another crack one of these days.
  15. Thanks very much for that nsd, They do sound a lot better than stock pipes imo. A few questions---with this modification would it still pass an mot ? and would it de-value the price of the bike, Are they legal, and would i need to have the carb re-jetted. Sorry for all the questions, but i am not mechanically minded, i can change plugs/oil etc but thats about me done mate, although i have got good biker neighbours who help me out when i get stuck with anything, which is most of the time lol. I just love two wheels, and cruising about in summer (when we get em) is my idea of living. I am 53 years and as soon as i was old enough to get a machine i did. Dare i say it/or will i get shot LOL, a lambretta vega 49 cc. from then it was a lambretta Li, 150 re-bored to a 175. I have to tell you After wrapping both these up (not my fault) I left 2 wheels alone for quite a while. Then i discovered Bikes and i love em, i won`t do the full history as i am guessing your eyes are glazing over right now. but just a bit of my history mate. good to know ya. Cheers -Terry.
  16. Lol thanks noise, I think i will give them a wide berth then. I have taken my test two or three times and failed, not on anything serious, just silly things like left an indicator on/ doing 30 in a 20 zone/ and another time i went over the road markings at a junction coz they were worn away, Hardly visible. So it was then i decided to just stay with 125`s as i am quite happy just pottering about for now, but you never know i may do my test again in the future.
  17. Thanks very much for all the info guys, I really appreciate it. What about the universal fitting pipes ? Any good or crap ? The ones i am talking about are the ones on e-bay.
  18. Thanks foamy, thats what i needed to know mate. :-) Are the aftermarket pipes easy to fit ?
  19. Thanks for your quick response nsd, so by aftermarket pipes do you mean like slashcuts, turnouts etc ?
  20. hi guys, I am getting a xvs 125 soon and i was wondering if it will be ok if i drill some Holes in the end of the pipes. My concern is will i lose any speed due to loss of back pressure, and/or will it cause any problems engine wise ? If it may cause problems, i was thinking maybe i could get some turnout pipes or slashcuts, but again, would i have any probs if i fitted these types of exhaust. ie when it comes to the mot ?? A massive thanks in advance-Terry.
