  1. The YBR doesn't have a kill switch. New CDI arriving tomorrow. Lets see
  2. Hi all Wondering if someone can help me out here. Just replaced the ignition on my YBR125 (carbed model) and now the spark plug isn't sparking. Replaced it, still no spark. I'm suspecting that either the coil or the CDI has gone but I'm not sure how to check it. Don't know if I was testing it right but I seemed to be getting power into the CDI (hovering around 10 volts, don't know if it was a bad connection or what) but couldn't get anything at the coil. I really don't want the CDI to have blown because that's probably the most expensive part of the electrical system.. Seen a few reports of problems with the spark plug after changing the ignition on this bike, something to do with it being wired up wrong. The ignition does come on, all lights on, engine turns over on the button but no spark. I'm stumped. Thanks in advance
  3. I know that I tightened the bolts in the correct order Just too tight... As soon as I snapped it then looked at the service manual and realise how loose they were really supposed to be, I loosened the rest off. As far as I can see the stator cover is fine, I just need to remove the broken bolt. I'm still unsure if there's enough sticking out to remove myself, haven't checked yet
  4. Yes, it was totally my fault, I was idiotic and never bothered to check the service manual for torque settings... I changed the gasket on the stator cover (left side of the engine) because there was an oil leak. As I'm tightening the last bolt, snap! The only replacements I can find are part of full engine bolt sets for about £65 and I don't want to replace every bolt in the engine just because I was stupid and broke 1... Does the replacement have to be identical, or will any steel M6 50mm work? It's a 2006 YBR125 Thanks
  5. This is the best I could get with my phone sadly
  6. That does sound about right. I have a mate who rides an SV and his regulator rectifier went faulty, and it caused the the dials to start going crazy and stopped the bike from starting, had to be bumped.
  7. Hey My bike has had an oil leak for a while now and for some reason it's taken me till now to find where it's come from... This picture shows the sump plug at the bottom, and you can see the oil running down from just above it. Is this an easy fix? I was hoping it would just be a gasket somewhere, apparently not. 2006 YBR125
  8. Being a 2006 model it won't have a kick stand (if it's the same as mine) so that can't be the problem. When you turn the key, does the neutral light come on and dash light up as normal? If so then it would suggest a lose connection somewhere between the starter button and the motor. Either that or the starter motor itself has developed a fault
  9. Finally got round to getting this sorted. One of the previous owners really messed up the clocks, 2 of the bolts that hold the whole assembley together are missing, they are blanked off. Went out and bought replacement bulbs then realised the speedo uses 2, not 1 like the tachometer... So half my speedo is lit up. However I also replaced the one in the headlight, and only just realised that the headlight was always supposed to come on with the ignition.. Anyway, glad I can finally ride at night without problems
  10. Hey all I've had my 06 YBR for quite a while now and the lights for the speedo and rev counter have never worked. It's never caused an issue as I only tend to ride during the day time but my MOT is coming up and I've got a feeling it will fail with no dash lights. Was just wondering if anyone here knows which bulbs the YBR clocks use. The fuel gauge light works, by the way, so I'm not sure if that would suggest blown bulbs or a lose connection. I'm thinking I'll try changing the bulbs, failing that, I don't have a clue, I'm rubbish with bike electrics. Or if anyone knows of a tutorial or manual that explains how to pull the clocks apart and fault find, that woudl be good. Cheers
  11. Sorry everyone I've been dealing with various other problems. Yeah, my bad, it is only 1 relay. Is the headlight also controlled by a relay? Because my dipped beam (always on) takes about 20 seconds to come on after starting the engine.
  12. Since this thread is active again I'll update on what happened. Simple. Bought a DID chain and sprocket kit, and a friend helped me install it. Checked the tension and I'm keeping on top of lubing it.
  13. Hello all I am searching online for a new pair of indicator relays for my 06 YBR125, since there is a 1-2 second delay when I press the switch. I know it's the relays because they make a loud squealing noise before they start clicking. You can also feel it if you take them out while you press the switch. Pretty dangerous if I need to indicate quickly. Only problem I'm having is that they are flippin expensive! This is all I can find online: http://www.motorcycleproducts.co.uk/indicator-relay-yamaha-ybr125-2005-2006-p-247543.html?gclid=CN2LxcK4770CFdShtAodl2EA3Q 15 quid each with about 5 quid delivery, that's 35 quid for a couple of relays. Bit extortionate for some simple electronic components. If I have to pay it then I will, but does anyone know anywhere that I could get them cheaper, or a compatible alternative? They seem to be different to what I find if I search for general relays. Thanks
  14. It was extremely slack. To the point where it flopped around and you could pull it down about 15cm. The garage told me that was exactly the reason it came off and that there wasn't much risk of it happening again after they'd tightened it. They said the fact it's old didn't help but I've got time to get it fixed before I'm at any major risk.
  15. Thankfully yes we managed to budge it and get it back on the sprocket, took us both like. There's a bike dealer at the other end of the bridge where I broke down so he followed me behind in case it happened again and the garage tightened my chain for me for free. They did say I need a chain and sprocket kit as soon as possible though so that'll be something I probably get next week.
  16. This is more an opportunity for you to laugh at me than me asking for advice. Was on my way to college today, my friend was driving behind me. I pull out onto a roundabout and start accelerating towards an exit that goes onto a big bridge. BANG. No power. Manage to quickly run up the slip road with it and put it in a bus stop, after frantically waving my arms around to indicate a breakdown, since my bike has no hazard lights. Chain has came off and completely jammed itself. Had to call a motovlogger for help who's number I happen to have Not a good experience when you've been riding for 2 weeks. http://youtu.be/5BRDa9UhdpA?t=2m25s
  17. Bought the boots and helmet. Both are serving me well. I'm surprised at the quality considering the low prices.
  18. Yeah I'll order a manual shortly and start learning bike maintenance.. It's been repaired now but I guess it's essential knowledge.
  19. I didn't have time to do anything properly today, I was just outside mucking about. I'm best off just giving it to someone who knows what they're doing.
  20. Tried jiggling the wires around again today and managed to get the front working. The rear left has never worked, the rear right is now just stuck on solid like the dash light. But, as I was fiddling with the wires for the front left, I accidentally yanked the plugs out and now I can't find where they came from.. Stupid me
  21. Hey all Edit - Bike is a YBR125, 2006 So recently I made a post asking about my jammed rear brake and indicator faults. Well, it's all still broken but the rear brake is not really an issue anymore, it is being repaired at a workshop on the weekend and I'm sure I can ride it there using only the front brake if I'm careful. The indicators concern me though. None of them are working properly (but all of the bulbs are tested and working). I can already see it's pretty likely that I'll need to have that repaired at a garage too, but using arm signals on one of my first times riding the bike is going to be awkward, so, can anyone think of any last tricks I should try before paying someone to fix it? Just another short explanation of the problem: The lights on the instrument panel do come on when I indicate, but they stay on solidly and the indicator lights themselves do not come on at all. The right hand side did work but it was flashing fast, and even they stopped working today. The left side would work only at the front if I jiggled the wires round a bit. Now, nothing works. Just the instrument lights. I understand there could be a loose connection somewhere or a broken wire, but I'm a novice and can't find anything that doesn't look right. Thanks in advance

    ybr 125

Hey I went for a free ride in December and I found it extremely difficult to get the CG125 on and off its centre stand. Bought a YBR since then and got a bit of practice in. Went to do my CBT last month and using the centre stand was probably the easiest part of it. You'll get the hang of it Oh yeah and I'm not the biggest and most muscly of men (5"9, 10st, 19 Y/O), it's all to do with how you put your body weight into it, not how much strength you have.
  23. Just a quick update I've had the battery charged again, topped up with water and the contacts have been cleaned, so at least the bike gets plenty power now and starts properly without hesitation. It was done by someone else but I've gone out and bought a charger for future. The indicators are still playing up, and the fact that they did work properly last week suggests to me that there's a bad connection somewhere. I'll have a proper look through the wiring one day when the weather is decent (I live in the north of England and it's been stormy for months... )
  24. I'm not sure if it is the spring in the rear brake, as it is actually very stiff to pull back up. It literally acts like a handbrake in a car when I push it down. Just seems like it needs a lot of oil. I know nothing about the choke other than what it does, so I'll let someone else deal with that As for the battery, my dad works at a factory that actually makes the wiring harnesses for a lot of vehicles including Yamaha bikes, he's going to test the battery there to see if it's knackered (hopefully it is, as buying a new battery is much cheaper and easier than the alternator or something being broken). There are people who work there who are bike experts, so eventually I'll nurse it there and let someone check it out. Thanks for the advice though people, it is helpful to say the least.
  25. Hey hey So I posted that thread last week about the indicators not working and then solved it by just replacing the fuse. Guess what? It's happening again! Solid left indicator dash light, no actual indicator lights. What the f*ck? When I depress the back brake, it stays there. I have to lift it with my foot. Can't imagine that being hard to fix though. Battery has gone pretty much flat again, despite fully charging it no more than 2 and a bit weeks ago. I can only start it using the kick start. When I do start it, the choke has to be off(?). If it's on then it won't even attempt to start, and if I kick start it with the choke off, then turn it on, it just dies. Surely it should be the other way round? I'm confused. Arrrgghh! P.s once I'm road legal, it's going straight for a service. And I'm gonna let a bike nut have a proper look at it, as my mechanical knowledge is limited.
