  1. Thanks for that, I had a feeling that they were an old style.
  2. Hi guys! I just picked up this pair of GP Pros for under £50 from a dealership in Ipswich. My only worry is that I'm not finding any others like it online, which is planting doubt in my mind making me think they might not be genuine. I know that there are ALOT of fakes of this sort of gloves around and I'd just like to put my mind at ease. Has anyone seen a pair of GP Pros like this before - without the plastic gauntlet?
  3. I've looked on eBay, and I can only really find the 2007+ indicators (the tear drop shaped ones), the closest I could find to match that I had was the second pic I posted here, which I've bought. I just find it odd that I can't find the right indicators anywhere, it's making me think that they may be after market indicators, but I don't think they are. I just inspected my bike and my left foot peg is bent, handlebars are slightly bent, front wheel doesn't freely spin (not sure if it did before my incident). I now really want to take it to a pro and see if there is anything else majorly wrong with it and to get it fixed properly. Not sure if my dealer will be wiling to help much because it went down (even though it was [99%] down to a fault which caused it), but i'll find out tomorrow when I ring him. Felling really low now, I just want it fixed asap and I really hope it doesn't cost to much to put right, I don't have the money
  4. Hey guys, me again. I'm trying to find this indicator lens/unit, as this is the set I have on my bike, only I'm having a bit of trouble finding it available to buy not as part of a wholesale. I have bought this indicator as an interim replacement, but if I can actually find the lens to the unit I have, that'd be great. Is it an idea to ask in a Yamaha dealer to see if they can get hold of it? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Good call, I'll do that - worth checking. But like you say, I haven't found much online about this problem, so it isn't/can't be a fault with the model or I would have read more about it. I only found that thread when I searched "yamaha ybr getting thrown off". Definitely give my bike a good looking over tonight, checking all the connectors, battery, spark plug etc, calling my dealer tomorrow. Now I'm actually hoping it was my fault... because then I can take action against it.
  6. Looks like someone else may have had a similar problem as me: http://www.fixya.com/motorcycles/t12355585-yamaha_ybr_125_07_plate Which is essentially what happened to me, but when it cut back in, I was already pulling the throttle to gain acceleration, so it shot me off into the middle of the road. Same year (and colour, lol) and I think mine's fuel injected, I'll double check. I'm going to investigate and see if anything there is causing it?
  7. Not much help, because I'm a girl, but I got mine from J&S for under £80 (Girls Ride 2 - only brand I could get to fit comfortably) and they fair very well. Granted I haven't tested them out too much, but I've been out when it's hovering above freezing on the dual carriage way and they kept me fairly warm. I did opt for some thermals to go underneath, but I was very impressed for the price I paid. They also faired well when I went down on my bike. Best advice I can add is just to try on as many brands on as possible, and choose the ones that you feel most comfortable in and wont compromise your riding position. I tried a variety of trousers on, some that were edging towards a higher price bracket (actually out of my budget, but thought I'd try them anyway) and they were nowhere near as comfy as the ones I finally got.
  8. That sounds like the cracker Although I had it running and the clutch pulled in. I just can't believe how I could have done that, but I did/something did. Even though I was riding well for an hour before in traffic, my clutch control had been really smooth till this point. It wasn't like I didn't know what I was doing. But I guess at the end of the day it happened. It's over. I'm fine (the most important bit). Get someone to check out my bike incase. And be VERY WARY in future. It's torturing me more today than yesterday, I just want my bike to be fixed so I can get back out there now.
  9. In terms of the bump start, I know I was moving, when it initially cut out I started it again and rode up to the lights, slowed down, and it went to green I continued to move off (I was in rider position when it happened so I know it wasn't from stationary), but everything is blurry, and I can't remember exactly what went down. I'm still not discounting my error, but I want to look into it just incase the bike had something to do with it to prevent it happening on my commute in heavy traffic. It hasn't put me off, if anything I want to get back out there and iron out my skills and make sure that, if it was my fault, it never happens again. I'm just trying to piece it all together so I can make more sense of the situation.
  10. I definitely appreciate all of your advice on the cruise control, like i said earlier I'm going to get rid of it. But will now look into getting better grips as I never thought of that. And I was looking where to get new bars too, I'm going to order them this week.
  11. After a long chat with my other half (race driver and mechanically minded), and we both think the most likely reason for this was it cut out and bump started as I was trying to take off from the lights, and because it was cut out, I tried throttling it more and when it finally kicked in again, the acceleration was crazy and I couldn't control it. If I had it in the wrong gear or took off in a higher gear, it would have been revving and screaming or it would have stalled, and it did neither. It's the only logical reason we can come up with. My bike is still in warranty, so I'm going to phone the guy tomorrow and tell him what happened and what we think is wrong with it. Because I was moving (in the proper biker position, feet on pegs), I don't think human error wasn't to blame (but, I'm new to this, I/we could be wrong)
  12. It may not have been my fault! I have been looking for indicators online and came across this thread: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/yamaha-tech/yamaha-ybr-125-problem-help-70847 And I now distinctly remember the bike cutting out literally just before it happened, and thinking about it, my bike light has been flickering since I got it. Having discussions with my boyf, he's had similar problems in the car and he say's it may be down to my electrics. His theory is that the bike cut out mid pull off, the engine could have cut out and cut in again throwing the back into motion re igniting the engine, suddenly jolting the bike back into life, hence the crash. (He's done that in a car). I only said it could have been in third gear, because I wasn't *exactly sure* what happened, it was all literally a blur, but after talking about it, I definitely remember the engine cutting out just seconds before it happened - not stalling, but switching off. Which means, if true, I have a bigger problem on my hands. The bike is still in warranty, should I take it back and explain what happened? 13. Yeah, it was really close, I was super lucky. I think, maybe it was me just loosing concentration for a second from going on a ride that lasted an full hour - not good. I'm going to go on some shorter rides more regular and slowly build up mileage (I basically did 50 miles off the bat), and wait until I'm fully confident that I won't wave concentration on longer rides, especially when they're nearly over. That will hopefully help with confidence, help my riding skills and help make sure stuff like this doesn't happen again. Thanks for your tips on where to get parts guys
  14. This is the cruise control thing, I bought it because it helped the strain on my wrist while riding at high speeds (on the A40). I seem to have trouble getting up to speed, maybe it's my gear changes, maybe my bike can't go much faster (around 60mph). But I will bin it and see how I go. http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/oxford-throttle-assist-cruise-control-of378/3006 Also, does anyone have any recommendations where to buy parts? I'm having trouble finding an indicator on ebay as they don't look like the one's on my bike

    Binned it.

I brought my bike initially for commuting and to escape the ridiculous price of public transport. I did a practice run today to and from work, with my boyfriend driving in front/behind (acting as my wing man), and apart from a few minor things, I was doing really well (for someone who has only had about 4 days of riding experience). Pretty confident with my gear shifts, stopping & starting, slow riding in traffic and hazard perception - all were basically spot on. I was almost home, and I got up to some lights, and I must have forgotten to check my gears (I must have been in third gear, I think) as when the lights went green, I added some throttle and the bike took me for a ride down into the middle of the road onto the ground, in the middle of oncoming traffic (all who just drove on, without even slowing down, just driving around me - no common decency in the world!) Thankfully I'm fine, and my bike is ok (just need to replace indicator/wing mirror/straighten out my bars). I'm just confused as to what happened, as up to this point I had been a competent rider, doing everything mostly right. It must have been just one of these things (I'm using a cruise control attachment, wondering if that had anything to do with it?). But I'm glad it happened early and that it wasn't serious, as now I am going to double and triple check what gear I'm in when stationary. EDIT: It may not have been my fault!
