  1. Right.. If I could buy a bigger bike, I would, but because of the laws in Norway the max size I can drive is a 125ccm with 15hp tops. I guess I'll find a stock cylinder and a ttr/xt cylinder head.. New cylinder heads for the YBR is seriously 1200€! Thanks for the answers! Hopefully I can get the bike up and running before summer kicks in properly
  2. Why would it die again? If I change the piston, cylinder, carb and top. Maybe a new clutch. What would make it die?
  3. Thanks, But how do I do it? Are there sportair filters for the YBR? Is rejetting the carb any hard? I've never really seen the inside of a acarb, so I don't know how it works..
  4. Hey guys! I'm having a few problems with my bike and was hoping some of you could help me out with a few answers. Currently I have a Yamaha YBR 125 with a busted cylinder, piston and cylinder head. Appearently one of the valves from the cylinder head had broken of and beat an actual hole in the piston! This is the second time in a year that i have had an engine breakdowm (I suspect it is because I bought a cheap china cylinder and piston). Now I'm considering to buy a big bore kit and a carb so I won't have to drive the bike so hard all the time. I heave heard that the yamaha ttr and the YBR has the excact same engine, so I think I'm going for a BBR 150ccm kit originally made for the TTR. But my concern is the carb. I have found a "Keihin 26mm" carb that is often sold together with the 150cc kit, but I don't really know if it will fit on the bike, with all the hoses. Is there anything else I should think of before ordering this whole headache? Could anyone please help? Thanks for any help! PS! I hope I'm having the right forum etiquette. I don't really spend alot of time posting in English forums, and in the Norwegian ones we always end up caps locking at each other with disrespect..
  5. Hey guys! I have introduced myself before, but it's been almost a year and I haven't really been here since, so I thought I would do it again! I currently ride a Yamaha YBR 125 with my 18 year old body (not really since the engine is broken atm..). I bought the bike almost not used (with 1600km on it) and it now has 24000km. On two years! I live in Oslo in the great state of Norway, therefore the somewhat gramatically fauled English. If anyone ever wants to contact me, my skype is Kristevj. Just to finish it of, great to be here!
  6. Didn't know that. Thanks for the suggestion!
  7. Ok, so! sorry I never came back, but I couldn't find back to the thread! All the answers you gave helped me out a bit. After disassembly of the engine I found the problem immediately: The piston had scraped up the whole cylinder. What I had to do was simply to buy a new piston and cylinder and drive it in (China cylinder for ca. 80£!). The bike runs quite well now, so thanks for all the answers! Btw. I've been much better at checking oil level before any long trip and at least twice a month So thanks for all the answers!
  8. Hi guys! I'm quite new too screwing and fixing anything in the engine of my bike (this is my first time,so please forgive my stupidity), and I have not yet gotten a complete understanding of how exactly anything works inside of it. Recently I was out driving in Oslo and my engine died, the bike is a Yamaha YBR 125 '05. I had almost ran out of oul (about 1/4 left) and it may have been a bit warmer then usual. (check out the link for more details) - (thanks to those who helped me out here) I got an idea of what might have gone wrong in this thread, but I think I need a bit more help. I have taken the whole engine and gear unit out of the frame of the bike, but frankly, I'm a bit afraid to break anything more if I continue to screw too much. Is there anything in particular I need to look after when taking the cylinder and the rest of the enigne apart? Is there any part I you would recommend me to start with? Hope someone will help me
  9. Hi there! I don't really know how to start, so I guess i'll do it the way I learnt in second grade My name is Kristian, I'm 17 years old (and 10,5 months..... -.-), I live in Oslo, the capital of Norway and I ride a Yamaha YBR 125 2005 This is my first bike and it is by far the easiest bike I have tried - at least when it comes to handling. I have mainly used it to get myself to and from school, but also on shorter trips (50-100km, 30-60 miles) I would have tried to take it for a longer ride if I had the time and money.. Anyways, good to be her!
  10. I didn't really feel any symptoms before it died, no noise, felt no loss in power, couldn't see any smoke or anything. I was driving about 90km/h (50-ish mph) and suddenly it stopped igniting. Unfortunately the dash doesn't even have an engine lamp :/ When I pulled over the engine may have been a bit hotter than usual, but i normally don't stop and check out how hot it is, so I can't tell for sure :/ What made me check the oil was mostly to have something to do while waiting for my dad to pick me up.
  11. Thanks for such fast answers! I understand, I'll make sure I do all of that in my next post I'm not completely sure if it ran dry. It looked dry and felt dry, but I could only fill 0,75l of oil (it is supposed to take 1l). where have you found the prices on second hand parts? I've checked out ebay.com but the shipping is not specified, so I'm abit afraid to buy anothing considering the postal fees. And yes, "smerte i ræva" means "pain in the ass" even tough we don't use it that much in Norwegian. We don't really have anything similar either, unfortunately
  12. Hi. Thanks for the answer. I will try to figure out what part is broken.. And! Thanks for the guiding on forum behaviour. I'm quite new to forums and really confused at the time because of the bike.
  13. I was out riding my ybr the other day and in all of the sudden it stalled, but not like the engine was broken. The engine had ran dry on oil, and it ws a bit hot. When I came home (by car..) I filled oil and made sure it was cold enough to try and start it, but i wouldn't. - it has fuel - new oil - spark plug works fine - cylinder goes up and down, with a draft - fuel flows thru the carburetor - air filter is clean and almost new What else does it need? I even tried to fill starter gas straight into the engine and it still wouldn't ignite. Any suggestions?
