  1. You just know you'd get home from work and find one of those bloody cards put through the door. 'We tried to deliver your house but you were out. It has been returned to it's country of origin'
  2. Just on the off-chance: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Auxi-le-Ch%C3%A2teau,+France&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=50.488969,2.015991&spn=1.284364,3.641968&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=8.617935,25.136719&oq=auxi&hnear=Auxi-le-Ch%C3%A2teau,+Pas-de-Calais,+Nord-Pas-de-Calais,+France&t=m&z=9 Lovely place and dead easy to get to. Also, if you fancy the scenic route, the D108 is a fabulous road!

Know what you mean about racks but just have to carry far too much (laptop, meeting papers, change of clothes etc) not to have one. Lovely to carry a fully loaded rucksack out to the bike and just dump it in the top box From what I hear, Benelli just didn't happen in Canada. I think there may be some bargains to be had if you can haggle down the insane prices of the ones on Craigslist...

Okay, I realise this may not be the rack you were looking for Foamy...
  5. Hi Mandy Welcome to the (mostly) Yamaha forum!
  6. So cynical, so young...
  7. Thanks Noise. It's one of those houses that is lovely to stay in but not suitable to rent for holidays. There's only one bedroom, no pool (although room to put one) and you need to do things like turn the water off/drain the pipes if you won't be going back for a while. Just a little too much faff if you're paying someone rent!
  8. Okay, no idea if this is allowed or not so please delete the post if it is inappropriate We are selling our house in France. For various reasons, we have not been able to get over there for about four years (!) so have just stuck it on Ebay. We bought it as an easily accessible base for touring in Europe but, by the time we had finished doing it up, life did that thing that it does and all our plans changed. So, the reason for sticking it in here specifically (if allowed) is that we bought it 'cos it has all the important ingredients: a garage large enough for at least six bikes and a bar next door The Ebay ref is : 181340554120
  9. Glad you're okay and it sounds like you had some luck on the damage front. Would agree with the others about replacing your lid, even if you just get a cheapy replacement for now. No point risking your noggin any more than you have to...

  11. Just watched it without sound. It looks like a video of a cartoon dog telephone sex line. Is it?

Decided the XJ6 wasn't doing what I wanted it to anymore. Always used to ride V-twins (SV, Firestorm, Falco, Mille) and missed that sense of lunacy when you cracked the throttle open Was hunting around trying to find something that would satisfy the bonkers urges but not be so focussed that I couldn't just relax a bit when I felt like it (unlike the Mille!). Thought about the Tiger and even briefly considered a BMW (the thought of being single again stopped the last one) but then saw a pic of the Benelli and fell in love. One test ride later and I realised 3 cylinders was as much fun as two! So far, it's been exceptional. Comfortable, fast, insane acceleration when you need it, great riding position in traffic (was in London for the tube strike - nightmare!), surprising wind protection and only marginally less economical than the XJ6. Even stranger, people let you out at junctions and roundabouts, possibly to get a better peek? Had some handguards put on and getting crash posts and a rack fitted but it's definitely a keeper Anyway, this may or may not work... http://
  15. I am no longer the owner of a Yamaha XJ6S Mind you, it's still in our garage as my other half has taken it now I've got a Benelli Trek 899 so can I still play?

    Re'vit leathers

Get the feeling you might have missed my point on that one...

    Re'vit leathers

I've got an Alpinestars jacket and RST trousers. Had to get a connecting zip put in (different brands never match zips!) but they work well together. Pretty sure the price of both was well under £500 though? Never heard anything bad about the Rev'its but would be tempted to shop around a bit and try on as many suits/brands as you can. Don't forget to try crouching/sitting down in any suit when it's zipped up and zipped together. Amazing how quickly you find out how uncomfortable they can be when you do that! Fair points from DDT about too hot and too wet (really, he complained about that? ) but I prefer leather to textiles every time
  18. What I don't understand is why I watched it all the way to the end...
  19. Er, maybe not... http://youtu.be/REeeYtp-8qE
  20. Ah well, seeing as this is open to all, my choice of celebrity stuck lifter would be... Zooey Deschanel - Gorgeous and bonkers, the perfect combination
  21. But not the brakes!! If you use WD40 or ACF, it's better to spray it on to a cloth and wipe over the parts that come anywhere near your brakes, rather than risk lubricating them. You'll find your stopping distances pretty interesting if you do manage to spray the brakes...
  22. Wynns(?) Dry Fuel is the stuff you're thinking of. NOT to be used for fuel injected bikes!
  23. Yup, but still worth it once you have the biker bug. You know,
