  1. Oh and I have just ordered a pair of fork legs as well.
  2. Hi, just a quick update, well I have taken the shock off, and taken it to a specialist, who is doing a complete service on it, including a new piston rod, 175 quid. I have sorted the rev counter code, by removing the ex-up valve cables, so the servo is going through the motions without any resistance from the valve. I am going to replace the whole exhaust system anyway, so no need for the ex-up. Temp gauge turned out to be a bad earth, so thats fixed now.
  3. Nice bike mate, got any plans for it (upgrades) ?
  4. Hi, I am looking at 50mm jack up dog bones, sorry to be a bit thick here, but does it mean that the dog bones are 50mm longer or shorter ? I want the bike to turn quicker, but I also want the rear end to be higher, with a bigger gap between the back wheel and the tail. If someone could explain this to me, and has anyone done this, and thought it was to high, should I go for 35mm instead ? Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the replys guys, I am very new to mechanics, so I'm learning as I go. What are emulsion tubes ? and just how hard is it to undo the header nuts, I have been told that it is very hard to undo them, without snapping them off !
  6. Hi, yes tell me about it, it doesn't make a lot of sence really. It has 3 months mot left, so how did it even pass an mot 9 months ago ? All the paper work ends at 24,000, so the last 1000 miles seems to have been the hardest 1000 miles of any bikes life
  7. No I dont think there is anything on the bottom, so could be over filled or what I was worried about, bent !
  8. I took it to a garage, and they said they mite have been over filled. What is anti-dive, is there a way of telling ? Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the welcome, I will start a project thread, but I will wait until I have more done
  10. Hello all, so I have bought a cheap Thunderace, but it's not very well lol. Rear shock has no oil in it, forks only travel about 60mm, seized EX-UP valve, temp gauge doesn't work, end can held on by a jubilee clip that doesn't actualy do anything ! The bike has been resprayed, not very well, and the fairings have a lot of broken bits and cracks. The good points are, 25,000 miles with all the old mot's to back it up, and loads of service history. Im going to get this bike right up together, and have all the fairings fixed and a complete respray including the wheels. So far I have removed the rear shock, and taken it to a specialist to be serviced. Here is a couple of pics.
  11. Hello all, my name is Rich, 38, and I thought I would join the Yamaha world. I Have recently bought a Thunderace, and to be honest, the guy must have seen me coming ! It is not very well at all, rear shock had no oil in it, forks only compress about 60mm, temp gauge doesn't work, EX-UP valve seized, exhaust end can is held on with a jubilee clip that doesn't actually do anything ! On the plus side, it has only done 25,000 miles with every mot form new to back it up, and loads of service history. So the bike has now become a project now lol. So I look forward to maybe meeting some of you, and lots of advice as I go though the project, thanks for reading.
