  1. Sun can be pain in the backside..averaging 30+degC here..too hot to ride.
  2. I`m confused..this is out the 175 manual..clearly shows locking screw.
  3. Airhead is right..manual says there is a locking screw on that arm behind the cover.
  4. Think you had better start a new thread in the Projects section.
  5. I`ve learned here these autolube systems never pack up. I would run the lines, prime the pump and get it going again. I have now done 4 bikes and all their autolube systems work fine.
  6. Ok here we go. Cover off. (notice thrust washer on rev counter gear missing) These bolts had me worried after Slice`s comment..they were damn tight to get off. Old friction plates. I`ve noticed guys file this galling smooth on the basket. Checked no ballbearing come out when removing pressure plate and pushrod. Springs measure round 32-32.5mm..on the limit. Ok..question..the metal plate lugs must be 120deg spread..but what about friction plates? I notice they are marked white which I would think is to be sure they spread correctly. I`ve spread them random..sort of 120deg..but must every second plate white mark then line up?
  7. All I can say is you`re as old as you feel..would just like to know where all the youthful pensioners are hanging out.
  8. Your body must look very similar to Barry Sheene`s.
  9. Can`t see anything in the manual..is there any special procedure when removing the clutch pressure plate and springs..and is there a torque setting for reassembly?
  10. New plates have arrived. Soaking them in new oil overnight.
  11. This has got me thinking..good performance Yamaha sportsbike that`s the most comfortable of the 600 range..mmmmm.
  12. http://rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/24591/turbod-2-stroke-build
  13. Wow you have some clever people over there..can`t believe this guy. He fitted a 350LC engine to a kawa ZXR400 (after changing the stroke to a "long rod" to make the engine square)..then fitted a turbo. Makes for interesting read..amazing amount of mods done. Calls the bike a Yamasaki WTF400.
  14. U should post pics of the damaga but sounds like just new piston and rings and hone should sort it.
  15. Hole in the piston means splitting the motor to get all the crap out. Unless you take a chance. Broken or stuck rings should just require new piston and rings and hone the barrel.
  16. Never got a reply for them..guess they gone. (thank goodness..got enough DT`s)
  17. Oh, bit confused..what other 2 you on about?
  18. Hey Slice..don`t have a micrometer..suppose been bit lucky so far to get away without any fancy tools. Will take plenty pics and hoping its just friction plates fried (following Airhead`s advice). Let`s see how things look once I`ve stripped that clutch.
  19. Ok..after deciding to give this bike to my son for local use, finally ordered a set of friction plates to get my first DT`s clutch sorted (its slipping pretty bad). This is my first clutch repair so please bear with me. Friction plates have been ordered from Yamaha. Once received will soak them in oil overnight.
  20. Get more classic bikes. Sold my car to finance some more. There`s a Honda CB900F I got my eye on. Considering getting a beach buggy..etc..
  21. Very impressed with some projects on here with the LC`s. Sure most you guys know about it..thought would just let everyone know anyway. http://rdlccrazy.proboards.com/
  22. My advice is if you don`t have patience don`t try it..I gave mine to someone with plenty patience to fix. There`s no other way but to carefully break them open using a sharp Stanley knife, do the repair inside and glue back together again. The workings inside require even more patience and very small tools to get sorted.
  23. Remember car drivers tend to be on their phones most of the time these days...unlike the bikers (wish I was a bike cop..would really enjoy nailing these people)
