  1. Getting pretty tired of trying to find a rev counter so stuck a DT175 one on there for time being. Sits like crap in there and no temp gauge so no long trips, but can at least use the bike. At last I can see what actual revs are doing and great to see needle flying to 9000rpm..other gauge didn`t go past 7000.
  2. Bad luck..bracket came loose again (should have epoxy glued it back in place). This time needle went so crazy it broke. Now its unwound the spring behind it. I`ve glued the needle back together after putting a little torsion against the spring but now not working at all. I`m told if that spring unwinds itself then unit cannot be fixed....damn.
  3. LOL..you need to be more descriptive Kev..might get something u don't want to see. Tool wasn't mine but will see bout a pic.
  4. Got the clock open using special tool to carefully peel open the crimp face. Once opened we could see the loose bracket the cable screws onto is a press fit into rest of the mechanism. Pressed it carefully back in using a vice and re assembled. Working better now..powerband kicks in at 5500..sorry didn't take pics.
  5. When going down the highway at average 80mph she eventually dies. Wait awhile on the shoulder and she starts. Never hassles when using side roads only highway cruising. So would think fuel not getting to carbs under constant heavy load. Changed fuel filters in case they blocked but suspect fuel cap breather as it hisses big time after a run. Cleaned the cap twice by stripping and using carb cleaner and compressed air but still get hissing noise after a run.

  7. Would like to have a wonder through this collection..bikes collected over a 35 year period different cc year models and makes. Mixture of Honda BMW Suzuki Yamaha Kawasaki. He will only sell them all in one sale..not separately. Price: 7800 pounds for the lot...pity its 1500km away.
  8. Thanks to Airhead did the engine cutout repair on the switch to get it looking better.
  9. Apparently nothing really..stood undercover on a carpet in the garage all the years and was well looked after. That`s why he wants so much. Would rather lean towards something grottier for cheaper I think. Anyway wife will kill me if I get another one when I`ve already got a stripped bike waiting for engine parts.
  10. Bit expensive..guy wants 1100pounds.
  11. Yea very happy she can do a power wheelie now.
  12. Rode with another RD last weekend. Mine is in the foreground..you will notice my paint doesn't have that darker shinier sheen like his, so going to get couple more coats of clear lacquer on (this will also give better finish on the decals as well as protect them). Also doing the stripe on front mudguard and changing the sidecover decals to standard like his bike.
  13. Thanks Cynic Was trying to log in with email address.
  14. This just came up for sale around here. Would look good in the collection.
  15. Since the site changed my password not working. Every time I have to request new password thru email and only then (after entering same password every time) I get in. What`s going on..is there still teething problems?
  16. WTF happened to the website???everything`s changed and my password didn't work....had to reset. Anyway a video of how she sounds with these pipes. Hate to rub it in..but this is our middle of winter..nicer than summer as its cool.
  17. I had a 1995 TDM..didn`t have to remove suspension..but tank had to come off to get to battery. Still not a good idea.
  18. Well its finally done. It had me a bit frantic as it refused to start after always starting easily since the rebuild. People talking of possible stator problem but it had spark. So some fuel in both cylinder plug holes did the trick and she fired up, must have been airlock in the fuel system. Took it for a spin and all seems well. Those pipes have a good sound and its pulling front wheel up now (actually has 2 powerbands now..2nd one very short but takes off like a rocket). Will post couple of pics in the sun once I get it out for a good run.
  19. Couldn`t wait..pics of parts on the bike. Tank just loose on there for now.
  20. Finally got it painted. Changed the colour scheme a little. Will get everything back on tomorrow...not gonna sleep tonite. The sidecover decals not quite as original and was supposed to have a stripe on front mudguard (but I think the original did not have one so will live with it)
  21. Been busy sorting all the RD`s hassles out. First off the tank and plastics have gone off for paint (finally)..will post pics to end off the restoration thread. Then sorting the sidestand as its already hammered the chrome off the new pipes. Quite a mission as bolt broke off..couldn't drill it out so cut out the section of frame to get sidestand off..then still couldn't drill it so cut off piece of sidestand. Found new piece with existing hole..cut to size..welded onto stand and welded new nut onto the back. Sidestand repositioned now to miss exhausts. (Touched up damaged chrome with Hi Heat Silver paint) Then thought I had rev counter sorted but soon as I put cable back in, cable bracket was loose again..so rev counter will HAVE to be opened to repair..damn. The plugs were blackened on top from worn plug caps not making proper contact. Replaced both caps and cleaned up the plugs. (would think this will have affected performance considerably..noticed one pipe going nice and blue by the headers while the other is not as blue) You can see its worn oval. Cleaned up fuel cap again as I still suspect a breathing problem. Spruced up cover as well. Cleaned up petcock again and replaced seal. Retorqued head while tank is off.
  22. Up Yours..This is where you guys confuse me..many knowledgeable blokes here insist do NOT use premix??
  23. He thought the red line on the rev counter was just for decoration.
  24. Will do..you are right Cynic..I am running it leaner..2nd clip from top.
  25. Well got them new pipes on after lotta fettling with a stripped head stud and going to smaller bolts to get the rear bolts mounted. Its not as good as I would like (you guys would shout at me if you could see some of the corners I`ve cut to get these pipes on). But OMG what a difference!!!!. It lifts the front wheel no problem in first now and to put it another perspective..there is a short strip up to my house where if I wind it up on standard pipes I get to 80km/h. It now gets to 100km/h on the same strip(there`s the 20% improvement right there). Still some issues as sidestand catches the pipe..which I was assured it wouldn't. Stripped head stud (bolt would not come off so put another nut on and just tightened it against the offending nut which stopped the blowing out that cylinder)
