  1. I have tried to add photos but they won’t post so it appears that I’m doing something wrong, any ideas? PS I’m using my iPhone to do all this and only have Apple

  3. After successfully restoring a 1964 Yamaha YDS3, a 1972 Kawasaki H1B, a 1964 Honda CB77 my next project is a 1968 Yamaha YR2C. I have rebuilt the engine and Hydra blasted it and it looks better than new. This bike only has 10,000 miles on the speedo so mechanically was sound and in good condition. It doesn’t even need to go over size just a new set of std rings and a hone to bring it up. I am after an air filter as one is missing and I cannot find one anywhere, I would take 2 as the one I have really needs replacing so if any one could help I would be very appreciative. Starting to dismantle Images of motor after Hydra Blasting and assembly.
  4. I have had the good fortune to purchase a going 1964 YDS3 that is in need of, which I am looking forward to doing, a complete restoration. My question is does anybody know where I can get the parts I require to carry out this project?
  5. Hi Mervin, I have tried to send an email to Al Cowan and after looking at his web site to me he seems the best bet. The address is a line from this web site but it keeps on bouncing back. The address I have from his site is "[email protected]"" and does not work. Can you share any light on thuds for me?

    1965 YDS3

I have had the good fortune to purchase a 1965 YDS3 250 twin cylinder two stroke. This was Yamaha's first model with Autolube injection and not requiring premix fuel. The engine was rebuilt at approximately 9000 miles ago so is mechanically sound and runs but the paint is like a patch work quilt. It is complete but in need of restoration which is where I enter and cannot wait. My question relates to the colour, I wish to paint this bike the original blue and white colour design and am asking if any body out here can tell me what the original blue and white used by Yamaha was. I will appreciate any assistance with this question.

  8. I have just purchased for restoration a YDS3 frame and engine number D9-1347 believed to be circa 1965 to 1969, can anybody give me an exact year model or manufacture of this bike? It is a runner having had the engine fully rebuilt 8000 miles ago. It needs lots of t.l.c to get it back to original. Would appreciate any info on this.
