  1. Thanks everyone. I won't even think about it anymore.
  2. Hello peeps Talk me out of doing this if it's overkill. I'm thinking of doing a complete engine overhaul on my 2001 Dragstar 125 and add new crankshaft, cylinders, pistons and cylinder heads used by the XV250. Engines are similar from what I understand.... Move/Kill the thread if stupid. Regards
  3. Appreciated Noise, getting to it this weekend. can't wait to get it roadworthy.
  4. Update on the build, still few bits to sort to get roadworthy, but the engine runs, can't help thinking the pistons sound a bit off, could it be valve clearances or timing chain? regards http://youtu.be/dGyQQlyx5QE
  5. Thank you all for the suggestions, really helpful. Re indicators, I was looking at bullet indicators the other day. An update on the build, Pipes installed and managed to get it started. I think my vacuum pump is gone, I have opened it and cleaned the gunk inside. Upon putting back together, I believe the seal is not 100%.
  6. Gentleman and a scholar, thanks. Will post update pics.
  7. Thanks chaps, all sorted now, one lead is indeed shorter, duh.
  8. Need help from Dragstar 125 owners please. Neutral switch connection, the only wire close to it is the one marked in the photo. Can someone confirm this is the right one? My understanding is that neutral switch needs an negative from the battery. Cheers.
  9. Stupidly enough I haven't taken photos when taking apart my XVS 125. I have rebuilt it, took enough months so no chance to remember. How do I connect the HT leads? I noticed there are 2 types of shoes on the wire one bigger. Are they also colour coded for left and right lead? Sorry chaps for my ignorance. Manual doesn't say!! Regards Edit: I meant front and back pots. Spark Timing is different right? There must be a colour code to ensure proper wiring.
  10. This is my first bike, bought it 18 months ago, real beauty, use it for work commute in London. After a year, felt it was time to change a few things, total newb to rebuilds. No skills so no chance to replicate some of the amazing mods dedicated people in this forum are doing on their bikes... My bike must have been running lean(?) as the temp was enough to eat away at the exhaust in the back pot, clutch needed changing (difficult to find neutral) and a few other things. Was I correct to assume it was running lean? Here are a few photos with some of the parts and compare to original. Not worried about resale value and original condition... Much... Changes: New BSM V line exhaust New clutch New spark plugs New filters all around New gaskets and oil seals New forks seals plus oil change New clutch and brake cable New brake shoes back and front Carb rejected from 90 main jet to 97.5 to accommodate for the exhaust Struggling to identify what the neutral switch should be cabled to (?) Ready to eat humble pie if I have done a horrible job, fire away chaps! And the original
  11. Hi Dragstar owners, I was hoping someone can take a picture of their existing clutch cable in situ. I am in final stages of a complete rebuild of. Dragstar 125 from 2001. It took a few months and I had the service Manual handy. For the life of me, can't figure out how to attach the clutch cable on the crankcase. I have done the decent thing and introduced myself in the noobs section. Sorry for stupid question
  12. Glad I have found the forum, very informative. I live in London, purchased a Dragstar 125 18 months ago, rode for a year then started a complete rebuild. Now in final stages, there are still things to double check before putting it through MOT. Hello to all, Seb New project thread:
