  1. Please can someone advise me on how to advertise my bike for sale? I'm not a paid member, but I've seen a post in the old For Sale forum saying that you can advertise for a fee in a new classifieds section. However, I can neither follow the supplied link nor find this section elsewhere on the site... Thanks.
  2. Much appreciated. I've now found the part on another UK-based breakers website - not very pretty, but it'll do the job. Enjoy the FJ... don't let it slip from your grip when parking, or you'll have the some troubles as me!
  3. PS Is that your FJ1200 in the picture? It looks great. Is it even heavier than the XJ900??
  4. Thanks for you help everyone - very impressed with your ebay search skills DutchFJ1200! Here's the part I found in a parts store in Holland after a Google images search for 'Yamaha XJ900F engine casing': http://www.motorsloop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=208_209_444&products_id=50556&zenid=u0qsetsh6t580hg9tgcknpql70 Have contacted the seller in the first link you sent me, so thanks for that.
  5. Hi, wondering if anyone can please help me. My Yamaha XJ900F (1992) slipped from my grip the other day and rolled onto its right side, cracking the crankshaft end cover into three, emptying all the engine oil. Needless to say I wasn't too happy. I'm trying to hunt down a replacement part, and so far have only found what I need in Holland - which will cost be rather costly to post. Does anyone know of a supplier that might make these? I usually find what I need at WeMoto but not this time it seems. Any tips would be much appreciated.
  6. Thanks Tommy, don't worry, I'll be careful. And thanks iandouglas, fingers crossed below is an image of my new steed:
  7. Nope didn't work, changed my profile pic instead!
  8. Been out for a quick ride in the sun this evening, enjoying this bike more and more. The clutch seems quite stiff, becomes quite painful in traffic, it was the same with another bike (same model/same year I tried) - wonder if it's typical of this bike? Might try lubricating the cable... Trying to insert a picture, not sure if this will work:
  9. Hi everyone, thanks for your replies. Thought I'd post back to say I took your collective advice and kept looking around - found the same model, same year with 50,000m on the clock, not immaculate but in very good nick, from a private dealer. No 2 year guarantee but less than half the price at £1,100!! I absolutely love it. Came with panniers and top box so perfect for a trip to the continent in July. And to think, I almost turned to another company and bought a BMW...
  10. I went to see this bike today and I'm considering buying it. Here's the dealer's description: "891cc, . This is probably the best XJ900F that we've ever had........and we've had a few !!! It's covered less than 25000 miles and is in pristine all round condition. It's been fitted with Krauser panniers and top box. The engine and gearbox are warrantied by us for a year, parts and labour. We can arrange delivery.. £2,499" It really is in pristine condition, and the dealer has also offered a 2 year guarantee on the engine and gearbox. I'm relatively new to bikes and would be grateful for any opinions on this model/year and whether you think this is a good deal! Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks slice - very inventive!! I've ordered the cable from WEMOTO and it sounds like lubing with a bluetack funnel is just what's needed. Thanks again.
  12. Hello I'm Michael from London - I've been riding a Yamaha SR125 (1993) for a couple of years, my first bike and I love it (despite being constantly overtaken by the lowliest of scooters). My clutch cable just snapped for the second time in a year - it seems to tighten up, and then this puts too much strain on the ball bearing at the lever end which comes clean away from the cable. Very frustrating when this happens 5 miles from home! Does anyone have any experience with this problem? What can I do to prevent the cable tightening up and breaking like this? And can anyone recommend a good supplier for a new one? Thanks.
