  1. Hey guys well i've screwed my self a little now, I haven't been riding on my bike since last tuesday and the chain has got so fucking tight there is practically no slack. It's all due to the chain kinking up and its seizing up a tad ( ah shit!) so I think i'm going to have to bite the bullet and get it fixed by a garage. My only problem is....how do I get the bike there, the chain is so f ing tight I think it will do some serious damage or snap if I get on it. Any quick ways I could unseize the links just long enough for me to drive a few miles. Cheers guys.
  2. no not yorkshire, i live in hertfordshire. I shall read through my haynes manual tonight and see if I reckon I could do it.
  3. I have some basic tools and a center stand, I was looking at somthing like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D-I-D-Upgraded-Chain-And-Sprocket-Kit-For-Yamaha-2008-YBR125-3502784-/360598993415?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item53f55ffa07#shId So its about £33, savings of 60 would be worth trying to do it my self I am just a bit dubious about messing it up and my wheel falling off while im going down the A1.
  4. Hey all, I normally keep my ybr 125 all tucked away under a cover but last week I ended up leaving it in the open for 5 days of rain, poor thing. Anyway my already knackered chain took a beating and it looks a bit rusty and has a few kinks in it. The bike has only done 5000miles so should really last more but I really think i better replace the chain and sprocket. Calling local garages it seems to be between £84 and £100 which, I being tight don't like the sound of. I think it needs to be done asap because the kinks cause the chain to bounce around and I don't think my 30 mile round daily commute will do it any good. If I get my self a sprocket and chain from ebay is it realistic for me to put it on and not fuck my bike up? Most garages will have to order the part in so to be honest I may have to wait till mid next week for it either way unless I am happy to pay the £100. Any comments people? Cheers for any help, Oscar.
  5. Hey guys, weathers been crap and haven't been out much but I think I've figured what the problem is. Basically my clutch is getting stuck open, thinking after the week of not being used and heavy snow maybe the clutch cable is getting stuck open?? or does it sound like it might be something more serious? The floppy gear lever was due to the clutch being open and then that's why I had the problem with shifting up. What's the best way to see if its my cable or the clutch? Cheers all, Oscar.
  6. You could always send it back. Amazon also sell the Sealey wrench for a little cheaper here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-STW1011-Micrometer-7-112Nm-5-83lb-ft/dp/B000ROF64O/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1360081498&sr=8-8 hmm dam, just missed the amazon prime next day cut off.
  7. Hey there, I recently serviced my bike (YBR 125) and upon checking my chain I found that it appears to be very loose. I therefore need to tighten it, I have the haynes manual and I need a torque wrench, I think its for the axal. What i am wondering is what torque wrench would cover the the majority of jobs the I would be doing my self on the bike? I don't want to spend too much at the moment and have been looking at the following ones: http://toolstoday.co.uk/shop.php?sec=prod&prod=4755&cat=49&load_page=Sealey+Torque+Wrench+Micrometer+Style+3%2F8%26quot%3BSq+Drive+7-112Nm%2F5-83lb.ft This one seems to have a good range. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-34570-88-5-708-Inch-Pounds-Ratchet/dp/B0001K9T2O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1360083174&sr=8-2 This one has a lower range, not sure if I will be need higher than this goes too? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-633567-Torque-Wrench/dp/B000LFTSG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360083174&sr=8-1 Cheap but the range is quite good and goes rather high, may be a bit unacurate because of this? Any reccomendations guys? Thanks, Oscar
  8. Hmm really hope its not a mechanic job. Got my manual today and fuck its not very helpful with the gear shift lever. To be honest I have no idea what the cause is, its been pretty crappy weather today so I didn't get a chance to have a thorough look at it. So in the last week I have noticed two things happen: 1. The gear lever will just suddenly go floppy when i'm shifting up from 1st to 2nd. 2. The gear will shift up with little pressure on the lever and when the clutch is not pulled in( I know this can happen anyway but i've never noticed it happen before for me) After then shifting up the I don't have any problems and I can put pressure onto it ready to shift up. What does this problem sound like? And how can I diagnose what the problem is so I can find a way to fix it? Thanks all.
  9. I bought it second hand, its a 2008 model. Under 5000 miles though so hasn't had that much use.
  10. My haynes manual will be arriving tomorrow, Im guessing it will tell me how to tighten it in there? Or is it a mechanic job? Cheers guys. Once ive shifted up from first to second its then that it goes all floppy and to sort it out I pull my clutch in and shift up just as normal but its not right that it goes all loose in between im sure.
  11. Hey all, I'm fairly new to biking. I have had my YBR125 for around 4 months but haven't spent much time riding over the winter. The snow has melted here in hertfordshire and this week I have been riding to university. I have noticed that my gear shift seems to become loose, as in I shift up then the shifter becomes loose and I can't put pressure on it ready to shift up again. This only seems to happen when I am in second gear. I am going to change the oil tomorrow but I am wondering if there could be a serious problem with my gearbox? Or if it is possibly becoming loose and may need a tighten? I am quite a beginner with motorbikes as I mentioned earlier and I am hoping this isn't a major problem but I am unable to determine this. Thanks all for any help you may give, Oscar.
