  1. No worries DT. Well the service manual came today. Sooner than expected!! If anyone else is wondering, the YR1, YR2 and YR2C all require 1.2 quarts of oil in the transmission.
  2. I just bought a 67 Yamaha YR1 a few days ago. I've been riding it every day and the engine has been running great but starting today the transmission started having some problems getting into gear. I was out on it when these problems started happening to I had to ride home. By the time I was almost home the bike wasn't shifting into fourth or above. The shifter arm will move up from third but nothing is engaging in there. Any ideas of what it could be? I don't have the service manual yet but I've already got one ordered and it should be here next week. I want to start by changing the transmission oil, does anyone know the capacity?
  3. Hello all, this is my second topic about this bike. Anyways, the rear shocks on my 75 DT400 are shot. Anyone have any good affordable suggestion for shocks for this? I am thinking of getting this combo: http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-Series-Shock-12-1203B/dp/B000WK72MW http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-03-1367B-Black-Spring/dp/B000UKID6I/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1374010981&sr=1-1&keywords=03-1367B I've heard (read) good things about Progressive and that's the cheapest I can find the shock/spring pair. Any thoughts?
  4. That's kinda what I figured. From the pictures the locations of the holes look pretty similar but I could tell that the lengths of the fenders were definitely different. I decided not to risk it..
  5. Quick question, would a '75 DT125 rear fender fit that '74 250 frame?
  6. Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try to get it up and running. I'll post a pic after I get the seat back from the upholstery place.
  7. Hello all, new member here. I just bought a 75 DT400 recently. It runs good but was used mainly for offroading and trail riding so the PO took off most off the body work and electrical stuff. This is the first bike Ive ever owned and I'm hoping I can make it better! I do have a few questions about it, so if anyone could help please head over to that thread Thanks and happy riding!
  8. Hello, new member here. I just recently bought a DT400 missing most of it's body work and electrics since it was ran strictly off road. It was advertised as a 75 which would be a 400B. The VIN on the frame is 450-x which according to http://auction.netbikes.com.au/vjmw.php?page=yamaha_id is classified as a "DT250 Japan." The engine VIN is 501-x which says "DT400 Japan." Am I safe saying that it is a 75 when I buy parts? Also would all the cables and wiring and such for a 75 (if that is the correct year) DT400 fit on that frame? Is the bike even worth restoring to a roadworthy/sellable state since the frame and engine VINs dont match?
