  1. Hey Mohammed, and welcome! Your bike looks great, I really like them and was looking at getting one myself, until the cheapness of a YBR lured me in! Enjoy yourself out there.
  2. Wicked - sounds like you're going to be having quite a bit of fun, I'm quite jealous!
  3. Likewise - I've been wanting to do mine for 10 years... What a fool for not taking the plunge earlier eh?! Never mind though, at least we've both got there in the end eh?!
  4. That's one of the things I like about having a CBT - I'm having to plan some of my routes. When I jump in my car I immediately head for motorways, and if needed, then it has in-built sat nav. However convenient, it does make you lazy! I've found myself taking wrong turns too, but I've recently bought a magnetic tank bag with a map holder which is something I'll be using for those longer trips. Oh and you're right - it's so much cheaper than a car. My commute into work is just under 80 miles for a round trip. The YBR takes me there and back twice before I top up with £9 worth of petrol. Even then, I'm topping up so I don't get caught out, not out of necessity. In my car I'd be putting £40 in at the same point. Not forgetting that I have to pay for parking in the car.

    idiot van drivers

Tell me about it! Yes, luckily he slowed down just before he hit me. Went to the garage first thing this morning, and all is fine thankfully! I then treated myself to a ride around Woodhead - a lovely fresh morning! :-)

    idiot van drivers

So my van driver incident was probably the best... Yesterday at 5.30am, traffic lights with two lanes of traffic, a van in the left lane to go straight ahead and a car in the right lane to turn right. At 5.30am, you can imagine the roads were empty, so us three moving vehicles spent a good 300 / 400 meter stretch of road together whilst we headed towards these red lights. I'd only just started up the bike so was happy to just stay behind the van once the lights turned green. I ended up stopping with about 4 meters between us. We sat there for a few seconds then suddenly his reverse lights came on. Without a second to react he started accelerating towards me at speed (you know that horrid whiny noise vehicles make when in reverse?!) Anyway, at that hour my reactions were sub-par so I didn't sound the horn in time or attempt to move. I simply took my weight off the bike, kept the handlebars straight and prepared myself to ride out the storm! He ended up reversing straight into my front wheel before moving into the right hand lane behind the car that was sat there! He realised (after the move) and parked up. He was completely apologetic the moment he got out and gave me his details. The bike is fine, and I wasn't in the mood for an arguement at that hour. Plus, he looked distraught at what he'd done. Had he been as arse, I would of had something to say. It goes to show how little attention some people pay for the following reasons: A. I was behind him going down the road before we reached the traffic lights, so in the darkness like that, even without physically looking in his mirrors, he would have been able to see my headlight bouncing around behind him (I was far enough back as he wasn't driving slowly) B. At the traffic lights I'd left a gap big enough for him to reverse straight back and then pull behind a car that was next to him C. I positioned myself slightly to the right of the lane so I was visible in his mirrors What a great start to my morning!
