  1. Name: Yamaha Virago XV1100 (1995) Date Added: 09 March 2013 - 12:38 PM Owner: ausibatla Short Description: None Provided View Vehicle
  2. After a some what infamous introduction to the site we finally got things sorted and I promised you all photo's of my conversion from Virago mag wheels to the spoked version. Well It's done and you can view the photo's by clicking on this link. http://s571.beta.photobucket.com/user/ausibatla/library/Yamaha%20wheels#/user/ausibatla/library/Yamaha%20wheels?&_suid=1362796183500046246110570360565 One thing I learned in the process of this project is the mag wheels have a cushion drive and the spoked wheels come without it. It makes no difference to the taking off and changing of gears. Another thing I learnt is it is expensive. These were the costs in Australian dollars. Wheels and freight: $475 Stainless spokes: $ 254 Sandblasing hubs: $ 50 Caliper paint: $30 Spoke fitting and tyres: $540 Chrome the rims: $300 Minimum for running around fuel: $100 -------- Total $1749 So as you can see it didn't come cheap. By the way, the mags are for sale. Make an offer. Hope you enjoy the photo's Cheers. :yay:
  3. I appreciate the feedback. I will post some before and after photo's when I learn How. Cheers. :yay:
  4. I have introduced myself to the club. Fella's. Thanks for your friendly feedback but have got the spoked wheels and the problem sorted with help from others who were willing to give advice and not criticism. The hubs are matt gold the rims are newly chromed and the spokes are stainless steel. They look magic. You have a nice day, Cheers.
  5. Hi everybody. I'm here to introduce myself because when I signed up and gave my details on the 6th. Sept. 2012 I thought I had become a member of this site. Unfortunately Sacha and Mike 1949 jumped in claiming I wasn't entitled to the question I asked and that I had thrown a tantrum. I found this out on google when searching for information about XV1100 spoked wheels today. Well I don't know what a new member is supposed to say except what is in his/her profile. I live in Western Australia In a small town about 100km's south of perth. I have raced speedway solos at Claremont Speedway, now extinct, I've raced moto cross and enduro's and for nearly 50 years I have ridden untold numbers and makes of bikes on the road. I love motor bikes and am a member of a number of other forums and never had a problem. In fact on other forums newbies are welcome with just a user name and nothing else. As long as they abide by the rules, no swearing, no derogatory remarks about members or the bikes, etc. they can ask as many questions as they like. Before long we find they are answering other newbies questions. I don't know what you expect of a person joining your site and asking for help but it seems to me that you are going about it the wrong way. If a newbie loves bikes then give them help and advice without any stipulations. And Mike 1949 your remark, 'If you look at post #3 you will find that he was a bit annoyed, and dare I say, a bit of a tantrum?' was unfounded and unwarranted. I don't carry on like a mug lair, I help people who need it and am happy to do so and I expect the same from others.
  6. I thought i had when i filled out my profile and thanks for the welcome. I'm glad I didn't try to offer advice instead of seeking help.
  7. Can anybody tell me if any Virago's came to Australia with spoked wheels. I've been chasing some for my 1995 XV1100 and was told by a wrecker that the Virago's only came to Australia with mag wheels. Appreciate any advice. Cheers. :yay:
  8. Can someone help me with info on non working hazard lights on a 1995 XV1100? All 4 indicators work O.K. Cheers. :yay:
  9. Can anybody suggest different brake and clutch levers for the 1995 XV1100 Virago. The original ones bend out too far and make it difficult to grab them. I'm after something a bit straighter. Anybody had the same problem and sorted it out. Appreciate any advice. Cheers. :yay:
