  1. yeah ile give that a try, and i know im annnoyed and dont want to be bringing it back there, would rather give my money to somebody on here that would give a hand instead of another bike garage. They will say its not roadworthy to try and road test because is hasn't mot, and will probably say that i only asked for a top end rebuild not to fix anything else. im just going to try and stay away from there from now on! thanks for the replies guys
  2. cheers ile have to try and find a new rad cap, and yeh, to be fair they didnt put the bolts in in the first place, but your right you would think they would know if they were correct when putting them back in.
  3. hi guys, basically just had full new top end rebuild and cylinder resleeve done by garage (expensive) got it back and there was coolant leaking from a head bolt, found out wrong bolts were in, so after replacing them with the right ones its not fine. However i have now got a coolant issue, its spitting it out from the overflow, the rad cap is also leaking, you guys reckon i just need to replace the rad cap? or may i have other issues, not too sure?
  4. heard back from the garage, they said it has the wrong head bolts on it : \ so they have ordered me the correct ones, so should be running fine when its back hopefully, then just an mot and its back on road
  5. Hi guys, had some good feedback and answers from the posts i have put on here. Just had my bike out the shop, which cost me a fair bit of cash, and i was wondering whether there are any lads in manchester that are up for small jobs in the future to save me some money, not very mechanically minded myself but do love bikes! Bike is due an mot, and i know there are a few things that need doing to get it through such as fork seals. If not i dont mind taking it to the garage as i get receipts just want to save a bit.
  6. cheers, yeah they shouldnt do really, well im going to ring them and get them to pick it up tomorow, ile post the outcome on here and let use know whats happening, thanks for the feedback
  7. cheers ken, yeah maybe they havnt put the copper washers back in, would be unproffesional though for a garage that wouldnt it? think its worth taking it them to have a look at anyway seen as though they did the rebuild, shouldnt be a big deal then should it.
  8. hi people, i have just recently got my bike back from the garage, after havint the cylinder re sleeved and a new top end rebuild and when i have started the bike up and let it tick over for a while giving it a bit of gas i noticed that it seems like coolant is leaking from a bolt on the top of the cylinder? anybody got any idea whats happened, or what can be done to sort this? i think sending it back to the garage is the best idea but dont want to be ripped off, appreciate any help, thanks. kieran
  9. cheers for the reply andy, much appreciated. yeah i think i will be buying a athena or a dep pipe, something similar anyway. Going to get the cylinder resleeved at the end of the month as its already on a 1.50 piston and has some slight scrapes on cylinder, hopefully shouldnt need much more then to pass mot and be back on road.
  10. cheers for that black hat, i think for some reason the jet has already been up jetted even tho it hasnt had any mods, so pointless but saves me changing it, but will have to check and make sure, and yess think i change the front sprocket for a bit more bottom end power too and ile look into a performance air filterr
  11. yeah, suppose your right, think im jumping a few steps ahead of myself. was just interested, somebody told me that a yz carb could be fitted also, may be too much hassle for what its worth tho, especially getting rid of the premix tank and doing my own mixes not really something that i can be doing with.
  12. Alright people,im based in manchester, north west england and i own a yamaha dt 125 05, its currently sat in my garage needing top end rebuild, but the weather has put me off it untill now, and im now looking to get it back on road! its currently all stock, and im interested in spending a bit of money on it, derestricting it and making it into a little smoker, i will be buying a performance pipe soon, but i was interested in changing the carb as i am told this will make quite a big difference? would appreciate any knowledge shared, or any tips on tuning, increasing bhp etc what to do or not to do.
  13. Hey guys new to the forum, 19 years old from manchester. Owned a 2010 Yamaha Wr 125 for a few months, got bored of the 4stroke engine and wanted something faster so now i own a 2005 Yamaha DT 125. Joined this forum as i like to have a look at similair bike projects and gain some more knowledge on bikes as i have a lot to learn! I also would find it helpfull if there was somebody in manchester that could help me with fixing the bike but will post about that in a different section . Thanks for reading
