    In 2 days I won't
  2. Alright mate On the sr125 there should be an enclosed rear chainguard. At the bottom of this guard near the front there should be a small rectangle cut out with 'min' and 'max' on it. That is the tension tolerance for that bike. Here is a link to some more relevant questions you may have regarding the sr125
  3. Hey Grouch Maybe they read this forum and realised you're a cash cow
  4. I wouldn't do it nowadays mike, too many cameras about. Although when I bought my xjr a few years ago in Bilston nr Brum, I could have lost my licence 3 times on the way home. A mixture of enthusiasm and a responsive throttle

He is, it must have been filmed preaccident edit to add Having just googled it, Kidds accident was in 1996 and the film was credited as 1997, so that must have been its release date. Anyway here he is at his best
  6. A tank slapper and a speed wobble are two different things, Grouch. I have had both and they are scary in their own right. The first was a speed wobble riding my mates H***a CBX1000 on the A78 Irvine bypass. I hit an indicated 130mph and the bars/bike started to weave then wobble. I nudged off the throttle and it settled down to about 80 for the rest of the trip. When I gave the bike back to my mate he says "just accelerate through it and it'll go away" I wasn't that brave The tank slapper was on my Bonnie doing about 35-40. It was a stretch of road being repaired so the top layer of tarmac was scraped off. I hit the corner of a raised manhole cover (it was back in the day, so "manhole" was an acceptable term ), anyway the next minute I'm being bounced all over the road with the bars slapping back and forth at an alarming rate. I managed to slow and stop, and once off the bike my arms were bloody aching and stayed sore for a couple of hours. Another time on my xs1100 I arrived at work and my mate who had been following in asks about the weave of the bike. I told him I dont notice it anymore and its just part of owning a 1970s Jap "Superbike" with an elastic frame.... My good lady organised the sale of that bike one day a delivery guy showed up with summit. He see the bike and starts asking her if its for sale. Yes she says, he showed up later that night and bought it.
  7. Alright mate If you look down at the lower section of the forum dual/off road you'll see a thread titled re-registering a DT50. The guys give the name of an authorised dating agent. Try and contact him as you will need a dating certificate in order to get an age related plate. I did it years ago with a Q plate xs1100 and all I needed was a letter confirming the year of manufacture (I got this from Yamaha UK) and again more recently with a 1959 Triumph. Same again, Dating cert, some photos and filled in a SORN form. No issues Both bikes had matching Engine and Frames numbers, but I think they just count the frame number for an A/R Plate

  13. Cynic Believe me mate, I do everything I possibly can (being a tightarse Scotsman), hence the digging out of about 3 tonne of dirt and rocks, and the 10 trips a day for 5 days to the dump with a full car load each time, I just couldnt get 2 tonne of hardcore plus 10 x 8'6" railway sleepers (for the retaining wall) in a wee honda civic. Scouring the internet at the moment to compare the price of buying a 10 x 10 shed or building it myself And now I've calmed down, I apologise for the sweary words
  14. Fuck all to do with bikes (well long term it is) but don't you hate having to rely on others. I will be getting my garage converted to a bedroom so over the last 2 weeks I took time off work in order to build a new workshop. Firstly my back garden is a 1 in 4 slope so I had a load of digging out to do to clear an area 3m x 3m. Got it all done, put down some shuttering and ordered 2 tonne of hardcore last thursday with a friday delivery date. I also spoke with the guy who'll be doing my garage conversion and he tells me he'll get concrete organised for tuesday (today). Well the friggin hardcore didnt arrive until this morning along with a pile of excuses, and I had to work like a dervish in order to get it down and compressed in time for my concrete delivery. I get it down and contact the builder but he doesnt answer my txt or calls. So at around 4pm I have accepted that he's let me down as well and I'll have to order it direct at about double the price. I fugging hate having to rely on other people Kinda bike related as when its done thats where I'll be keeping my bikes. Rant over
  15. No the disk will shape the pads
  16. I am in to auld bikes, although I have never had a Fanny B, or indeed a Brit 2 smoke. Assuming they are they are the same as bikes of that era, the brakes will be shite, but the lack of power will compensate for that. Its a nice looking bike and there will be plenty of spares around, but I would prefer this http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=95548d06b1f9b524a1f5ab6f4eac193f&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fmembers5.boardhost.com%2Fclassicbikemart%2Fmsg%2F1362867979.html&v=1&libid=1363423666344&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gumtree.com%2Fp%2Fcars-vans-motorbikes%2Fbsa-bantam-d1-1954%2F1011848505&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fmembers5.boardhost.com%2Fclassicbikemart%2F&title=IKBA.co.uk%20Messages%3A%20Tidy%20Bantam%20D1%20on%20Gumtree&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gumtree.com%2Fp%2Fcars-vans-motorbikes%2Fbsa-bantam-d1-1954%2F1011848505&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13634236692454
  17. Alex Try yambits or wemoto Also I would not put my mobi number on an open forum, you never know who will call you
  18. Sorry Airhead I didnt realise you had answered this. I just scrolled to the bottom of page 2
  19. Its a flat battery, It was very, very cold last night. My boys virago did the very same thing this morning. We bump started the bike, and when he came in from college, he (watched and guided by daddy) fitted the Optimate adapters taken from his sr.
  20. Yes As bindie says 2.6l for an oil change(without replacing filter). Handily its embossed on the engine at the sight glass. Probably take it off at the weekend, or whenever the gasket and oil filter arrive from fleabay.
  21. Cheers folks Ttask, He had just ridden 8 miles back from college so the oil would have been warm, when he first showed me the issue. I tilted the bike over slightly and still nowt. Following on from dts' advice, when he came in last night I leaned the bike right over till the footpegs were touching the ground. Still nowt coming through. I think a new gasket, removal of cover and some exploration is required. Airhead, I have always erred on too much oil (in its own way) being as bad as too little
  22. No disrespect meant Grouch, but with your history of looking after bikes, I would think a fragile motor is not the route you want to take
