  2. well not much to report, I now hold a Full uk bike liscnese, (sorry I can never spell that word) I managed to pass my test first time, both parts, with no minors, not bad me thinks!! all has been well with the bike up until yesterday, when crusing down the road, flat out (walking speed) i got a puncture, tyre went bang, back tried to overtake the front, blah blah managed to control it to a stop etc, had to walk to work, what a joke Turnes out a screw had found its way into my tyre, which was a bummer... So i have spent 1/4 what the bike cost me just to get a new tyre and innertube!!! oh well!
  3. im down 'sarf, so postage to me is normal, and yer happy to post on
  4. Do you recon it is worth changing the gearbox / drive oil on my MS50? its only done 4.6k, (thats all any of them have seem to have done!) im struggling to source the correct oil to change it too,
  5. ok, i shall have a looksie, probably best to order a new gasket and copper ring me thinks! just incase!
  6. Rubbish topic starter by me How could i de restrict it? is there any information abvailble? i cant seem to find any Are there any other owneres of ms50's that could shed some light possibly? I may pop the exhaust off and run it without it to see if it will go faster

  9. a few pics of the bike next to my newly built workbemch (all the wood was free ) also in front of the old 2cv! As for oil, it says it uses, 10w30, im in the uk, and i cant seem to find it anywhere! I managed to snap up a spare head, barrel and piston kit for a decent price, they seem to be far and few between! i also spent today painting one of the front forks, with hammerite, because i wire brushed all the rust and paint away, and as i didnt reaslise i had any primer, hammerite was the only option! i will wet and dry it flat one evening next week, and then spray with whatever shade of grey i can lay my hands on!

  11. so I passed my cbt, I got knocked off 20 mins in by some 8 yr old, but luckily I was ok. The school bike I was riding was wrecked. Bent forks etc It was a shock and my first accident Anyway, yes I own a Yamaha ms50, from 1985, It's not immaculate. But it's good enough I will write more and post pics tonight when I'm home. I'm currently hugging a warm hot chocalate in Starbucks!
  12. Yes, and considering what i paid i cant complain Been looking around, and cant find any spares at all few sites do a bit, but cant find a exhaust for example! I geuss when i restore it ill have to do a fair amount of diy'ing Although there are a few bits on ebay, they seem pricey but i geuss tyere far and few between Saw one on auto trader for 800 So i now v nearly own a v rare bike, and a in creasingly rare car When i get the bike, ill be taking pics etc for you all!
  13. Oh dear!! How's slow do these bikes go? The eBay ad isn't truthful Says its the only one on the road.. Mines been on the road well over 9 months
  14. Blackhat250, I believe the bike was built before restrictions applied, (it was built on 1985) but I wonder how or where I could find some information to de restrict Im using it as a commuter so no more than 45 is needed!
  15. Once ive got the bike in a week or do I'll start a thread up on it I'm 18 and both my vehicles are older than me! I do like quirky things, the 2cv is un believably particle, I re chassised it in 8.5 hours! Anyway it's a Yamaha forum, My intentions for the bike is to use it through the winter, and come spring restore it, re build the engine, and use it some more! Saying that I'll probably never get round to it. But if I do I will do a restoration thread on the fourm Anyway I can't wait to get my cbt, bung some L plates on and ride it Eventually I'll do my full test, so I can bin the L plates!
  16. Hi! Thought is introduce myself, Ive just today shook hands on a purchase of a Yamaha ms50e from 1985! This will be the 2nd bike I've owned, the first being a Peugeot speed fight (yuk) which I hated! I also drive a citroen 2cv, and I bought the bike as a run around, and to enjoy! Even if it may only be a 50cc!
