  1. im sure that that at some point we have all fitted a jubilee clip/clamp at some time,so,there i was, fitting a jubilee clamp on a radiator hose,10mins later, still trying to get the screw to pick up on the thread to no avail & then realised that it was left hand thread???? why??? i know that left hand thread is common on a crankshaft end etc etc so that a nut/bolt doesnt undo itself but on a jubilee clamp ffs.i have fitted probably hundreds of the things over the years but have never come accross on with left hand thread before, anyone else come accross one? maybe its a one off & worth thousands & i should stick it on ebay - unless i get an offer i cant refuse for it lol. ( no offers of 2 chickens & goat etc lol ) - afterthought - maybe i should have used a left hand screwdriver?
  2. hi,re dirtydt earlier reply to this topic, how did using super unleaded affect the performance of your bike? im only asking as i have tried using it in the past & it stuffed the performance on my bike until id used up the fuel in the tank,i believe that it was due to the electronic mapping of the ignition system,it couldnt deal with the higher octane content apparently.
  3. hey guys, thanks for taking an interest, will update asap
  4. well,id love to be telling the members that read my previous thread about project cockroach ( offroad buggy/zxr750h hybrid ) about how mental it performed & how many times it tried to assasinate me - but its still sat in my workshop waiting to be taken up to my mates farm.i had hoped to have given a it quick bit of minor engineering, engine bracing etc & then a test....er....flight,but the workshop up there has been a bit hectic,it will be there in the next day or so but.i have sorted some electrical issues tho,set up & balanced the carbs & have opted for a peco twin exit exhaust tho.....honestly,it souds awesome.i havnt added any more pics because its not too easy to take pics inside my own workshop,as my previous thread shows, but as soon as i can take a couple of photos & show it in its full ....glory????.....i will. i didnt want to keep the erm hundreds of members who read my earlier thread in suspense for too long.anyway,i will update again soon, assuming im not being fed through a a straw & having my backside wiped for me. ( erm..swings & roundabouts i suppose lol)
  5. spent many a night in the whores bed....sorry.boars head, mainly in the car park,on my back with my rd on top of me
  6. fascinating!!!!!! you gotta love the old 2strokes,a dying breed.
  7. im looking forward to having a go too, hopefully in a day or two.will keep posting updates (if i survive) nice area to live, reading,i was contracting up there a few years back, was staying in a small village on the outskirts, stone cross.( had my rd500 then....happy days )
  8. thanks, hope it goes as good as im expecting,am trying to add some more pics but the pc isnt one of my strong points,i got a couple more pics but none from any great distance.i will take a couple when i get it up the farm in a day or two, will try & get the hang of adding what pics i got in the meantime
  9. ouch!!!! not totally worthless i thought, worth a read if nothing else.anyway, you are right, pics are the order of the day,(doing pics not my strongpoint to be honest but here we go.....
  10. having ridden bikes for more years than i care to remember, you cant help feeling that the experience has lost something as time has passed bye, speed cameras everywhere etc, etc.i have also spent hundreds of hours building/repairing bikes & have craved to do something a bit different for a change, something over the top - and so was born THE COCKROACH !!!!!! as the name suggests,it was never meant to be a thing of beauty, but it is meant to be over the top.basically it started its life as a 2 seater kids/adult 8hp automatic offroad buggy but it has since evolved into 750cc beast.i originally bought it as a clapped out project for £200-ish & have spent a month or so converting it into a single seater 750 with manual gears.i used a zxr 750h1 that had been sat in my workshop as a donor for motor, electrics etc everything else i needed i have adapted from the huge mound of bits & pieces ive accumulated over the years.i just thought id share this story with you all as if like me,you fancy doing something different on a budget ( probably owes me £600-ish ) try a bit of 4 wheeled offroad fun.its about 95% completed now,all up and running & im hoping to take it up my mates farm in a day or two to give it a bit of a test run/fault finding mission - well, any landing that you can walk away from.......etc.
  11. a modern day gladiator, lost his life pursuing the sport he loved, very sad. R.I.P.
  12. why not try a road registered onroad/offroad buggy,im toying with one at the moment (not road registered tho).it originally had a honda gx240 motor with a variomatic g/box,its got a zxr750 motor in it now.....90% completed......easy project, very lightweight-ish.a little basic engineering & a lot of imagination = lots of adrenalin ( hope i dont kill myself...should be ok....well,i fitted a fire extinguisher !!!!!!!! )
  13. i had one of them a little while ago,was half tidy condition,i put it up for sale & had very little response, maybe it wasnt a good time to be selling it but i would go for the satisfacion factor of cafe racer-ing it
  14. cheers!!!! (i will take the minter comment as a compliment) i try to avoid saying anything is a minter to be honest,a lot of people dont take into account the age factor;there are obviously little marks here & there, not many though, just in storage stuff really.have just come in from my workshop, got an offroad kart project/toy in the making,(a zxr750 motor wedged in nicely).fired up the exup while i was in there & thought maybe i will spoil myself tomorrow, park my r1 up & blow the cobwebs out of the fzr (errrm,if it stops raining)
  15. thanks for all the advice,re pics, hope i got it right now....damn fandangled p.c. stuff.....give me an oily engine to tackle anyday....cheers
  16. i been trying,honest lol.cant get it to copy/paste the img code
  17. just thought id try & post a pic, not too good at this sort of thing,so,if you see a pic,i got it right.
  18. i agree,i guess its up to how much someone wants it,i only bought it because of what it is,and the condition of course.if it was a winter hack i could probably sell it easily but i dont even want to get it wet.it gets started quite often & a run around the block, probably the only bike i own that doesnt pi@@ my neighbours off when i run it in my workshop.thanks for the advice.
  19. yes it is,a 4xv,probably the best bike ive ever owned, and ive owned quite a few,to say the least.i have tried not to spoil it & kept it as original as i can but the stubby moto-gp pipe was a must.if you own an r1 you gotta make it loud!!!!!!! (and it is loud),i see you own a 750h,good bikes too,i have 2 myself,a bike with a lot of charicter.i see you also have a dt,i got a 1971 ts125 duster, you just got to keep the old 2 strokes on the scene.
  20. ooooeeeeerrrrrr,i probably been through worse though,to be honest !!!!!!!!!!!!!
