  1. It does indeed. cheers mate. Just wanted someone to verify my theory! Problem is i binned the old filter, and i dont have the spare cash to get the bike Dyno tuned! Guess ill have to go easy on the old girl for a little while until i can get her on the rollers! Have seen Custom DynoJet kits from the US, where you give them your engine specs, modifications, altitude etc and they work out your optimum jet sizes for you, everything from pilots through to mains. May be worth a punt for £70?
  2. OK so my bike ( Yamaha Thundercat) been sat up for 3/4 weeks, yesterday i serviced her, and whacked in a Pipercross air filter and iridium plugs ( for longevity, not expecting a gain from the plugs!), Bike has a full system already on with race can. Went out today and bike was noticeably a touch quicker through gears 1-4 however when she hit 120mph, it was as if someone activated cruise control. it just would not go faster. In 5th it stopped revving at 11k rpm, which funnily enough is 120mph. nothing extra in 6th either. That was first thing this morning, temp prob around 5-7 Deg C. This afternoon, she went past 120 but slowed at 130 and stopped at 140. Temperature prob circa 12-14 Deg C. Normally pulls all way to 145/150 then slows getting to 160 ( clock speeds, not actual speeds, i have diff sprockets etc but they are the figures i can describe best with!) Been popping on overrun/throttling off way more than she used to too. Im thinking that the combination of can and filter is causing the bike to run lean which is affecting my performance at full load ( presuming that the engine is working harder at 140mph than it is at 70mph despite revs) and that because it was colder this morning, the air was denser, hence strangling it that bit more than it did this afternoon? So im thinking i need to re-Jet? anyone think of anything else that could be doing this?
  3. 3BN y3, same markings i had on my 89 DT125 and pics looks like DT for sure.
  4. Sorry for delay in replying.... was busy hunting down Tcats! got this 2003 model in the end: Well chuffed with her!
  5. Cheers for the tips Ill be careful for sure. Dont want to be getting points on a test drive eh! Sundays are points days!
  6. Yeah the 2nd gear issue is one that pops up a lot, although from what i can tell, Its not a mileage thing, just a "use" thing. some suffer from it, some dont. depends how hard on the box the riders have been i suppose! But i wont be buying it without giving it full beans in 2nd, just to be sure
  7. After a few months on my SV650, im wishing for more top end grunt for overtakes and the like, and something that looks/feels a bit sportier.... So the SV is off on saturday, and on monday im hoping to be picking up this : And whoever at Yam decided to name it THUNDERCAT was a legend! Literally the coolest name for a bike EVER!!!!
  8. Well i got one and how anyone can say this thing is ugly is a mystery to me, I LOVE IT!!!
  9. Cheap, But my mind is now firmly made up. SV650 for me Just trying to shift a bloody car so as i can actually buy one! DT has sold on ebay though, £900, so thats a good start ( providing they pay for it!)
  10. Dont you worry i currently have 17 SV's in my watch list and checking for new ones every night dommie looks cool as, proper 90s colour scheme!
  11. Cheers for the info mate appreciate that Looks like a very nice bike you got there mate, heres hoping i can get one that nice in budget!
  12. Ill probably end up buying a curvy, but if i honest id rather a pointy! ah well, either one is pretty And Mervin, That Dommi is 4,500miles!! looks very, very nice, but i just wouldnt pay that for a Dommi, especially to then have to register it etc on top. I could buy one almost as nice with 25k miles for far less and not have the hassle of registering it etc. for someone who is bothered by mileage that uch, its a great bike, but im just not!
  13. well it would seem the insurance company have decided for me! TDM will more than double my premiums, and the bmw isnt far off. the only 2bikes that are semi reasonable to insure are an sv650 or dominator. going to have to be an SV not going to rush into buying one though, there are plenty around to choose from so can affod to take my time and get the best one i can find in my budget
  14. I dont Need an enduro bike, i just like them. But Im also a supermoto fan, and do genuinely like the Duke. Im struggling with the KLE, i cant find any good reviews online, and thats not very reassuring considering im gonna pay more for one. MPG on the kawasaki ( 37mpg) isnt really any different to the TDM (38mpg) or SV ( 40mpg), they are all twins, and the TDM and Sv are 125mph+ whereas the KLE is 105mph. As for the BMW's, the F650 CS is belt drive, so low maintenance, and have heard nothing but good things about them tbh. Think im going to hold out until i have passed my test and go and ride a few of each until i find what suits me. Plus it gives me a bit more time to top up the money, reckon i have £1650 spare at the mo, so could poss stretch that to 1900 ish.
  15. I do like the TDM a lot, and in all honesty it is probably going to come down to either an SV 650, BMW F650 CS or the TDM 850. Am waiting on my insurance company coming back to me with some prices, will see what they say!
