  1. Hey thanks a lot Dirty. I appreciate all the info and look into getting this fixed. cheers!
  2. Hey Everyone, So I bought a project bike off of ebay and managed to get everything running pretty smooth. YAY! I do have a slight problem. I've ordered, and recieved, a new tachometer cable and have no bloody idea where to connect it to the engine. I do have a short video that may help explain my problem that I posted to youtube. If you are interested in checking it out here is the link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gWPgESV3RI no obligation and no it's nothing sinister, it really is my problem. I'd appreciate any help you guys/gals can offer. Thanks. Brian
  3. is there any other type of string I'd want to handle? answer = no
  4. Hey there, I actually just had my blinkers and electrical worked on yesterday on my 78 XS750 special. So I had the same problem with my blinkers where they would turn on and not blink. Turns out the relay was bad. It's a 6 dollar part so I would replace that before I tried anything more expensive or time consuming. My main fuse is also a 20a, while the other 3 are 10a. As far as my starter was concerned, I was able to kick it over but the starter button itself only worked for about a week. Turns out the relay was also bad on that. My biggest problem with my bike now that all that is fixed is trying to figure out where I connect the bloody tach cable to the engine. Hope this helps. Let us know!
  5. thanks Drewpy, I got a guitar string and some compressed and was able to clear the cylinder. Got the front brakes bled and took her for a spin. Thanks again Brian
  6. Oh I apologize for posting in the wrong section. Yeah I did a search and actually checked all my lines. Seems the problem is coming from the master cylinder somewhere. again apologies for posting in the wrong area.
  7. Hey everyone, I got my new caliper in for my xs750 special (super excited face ), I was trying to bleed the front brakes. There are two front brakes on the XS750 special. However, I could not get the fluid to come through the bleed nipple. I kept hearing little gasps of air but no fluid. The master cylinder didn't seem to be draining at all either. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so are there any solutions that you can think of? Thanks for reading, Brian
  8. Haha! No, I believe it's an old bag of thinset that just happens to be crumpled up looking like a head or something.
  9. Hey All! A warm hello from sunny southern California. I just bought my first bike (a yamaha XS750 Special from 1978). I'm excited to fix it up and get to enjoy riding it. I hope you all are doing well. I'm happy to be a new member of this community. Brian
  10. Hi everyone. I just bought my first bike, Yamaha XS750 Special 1978, and joined up on this forum. I'm having quite a few problem getting this thing back to it's former glory. Besides having issues with my flashers and ignition button, I am trying to find out where to connect the tach cable on the engine. Any and all help would be appreciated. God Bless! Brian
  11. I'm actually having the same problem with my bike. 1978 XS750 s. I was about to buy a new flasher relay but wasn't exactly sure where to get one. This is my first bike and the electrical problem I am having are really starting to get me frustrated. So I'm wondering if I should buy the flasher relay or go through the painful process of rewiring the entire bike. Both the front and back signals will turn on and stay on, however they won't flash.
