  1. I've heard a few tails about there clutches a good friends fitted a new kit to his FZS1000 and had nothing but trouble with it so we ripped it out and refitted the old clutch with new oem plates and its still working fine 3 years later.

  3. If you get a set of XS360 forks they have the mounting holes ready for an extra caliper I think the stanchion size is 33mm. I only mention this as I'm not sure of the stanchion size of the 400 & 500 bikes.
  4. I'm glad you got it sorted Tim. It seams to be a 950 thing my mates got the XVS version and the clutch had to be altered to work correctly now far smoother in operation.

  8. Hmm..If the motor hasn't been started at all since the good run, I would aspect them to be a light biscuit colour all around the porcelain. Since its an air cooled motor Yamaha do tend to set the carbs a bit on the rich side.
  9. I had this sort problem with a dealer. I said really "I'll have a word with Yamaha direct" and amazingly it got sorted!

  11. They look a tad fat and wet to me but not familiar with this engine, were they taken out after a good run or not? is the air filter clean? but saying that If its running okay and the mpg is right leave well alone.
  12. I've used low cost Wemoto pad in other bikes (never my own) and they have been okay but they wasnt ultra high performance by any stretch of the imagination.
  13. 2 Strokes don't work that way Slice they are dependent on expansion chambers for power, they will work with normal cans but would make a lot less HP the stinger part of an expansion is very important as well and this hasn't got one.
  14. Why would you fit a pair of large diameter 4 stroke cans too a single 2 stroke, unless you wanted to ruin the power output? If the picture is real that is!
  15. All the above are good points but if you are unsure join an advanced riding group RosPa, IAM or even the local Ride Safe is a start. The most important thing in my opinion is concentration.

  17. This is how I do it Slice. When the carb is upside down hold the float just off the pin with your finger and then measure. Then adjust until its the correct height.

  19. When selling a bike the new owner will not have any road tax, so is the seller liable for prosecution if not taken on a trailer?

  22. Buy yourself an old private number plate pre 72 as most coppers don't know bikes especially Harleys.
  23. I'm glad your Ok Gaz and sorry to hear about the bike as I liked the simplicity of it. I would its just bad luck but with the amount of poor drivers out there it a gamble every time we go out these days.

Hi Clive I know you say the Battery is new and the dealer said its charged but after filling with acid they need a good few hours charging to be at full power, I'm not saying this is the answer but it could be part of the problem. You could do with a course on how to use a multimeter as this would save you countless hours and cash.
