  1. What chance this will fit?? http://cgi.ebay.com/YAMAHA-T80-TOWNMATE-LEG-SHIELD-FAIRING_W0QQitemZ320584923608QQcategoryZ10490QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8217642001287656586#ht_1785wt_902 Already bought the side panels, the headlight & some other parts. PS - I got it going!? Pulled engine off, cleaned off Magneto & points, stripped Carburettor down and cleaned it, added some pre-mix, and she runs! Yay
  2. Righto - some progress. Have pulled it to bits.. Woot Woot! I found a helpful bloke. If ever you need old bits and stuff - talk to TOM from spare parts at ProMoto at Slacks creek, Brisbane QLD Australia Brilliant customer service, really knows his stuff. Doesn't laugh when you mention your passion for old bikes. And he helped me find one of the parts I need cheap! brilliant. One inspection cover (round, magneto inspection cover) on it's way. :) So we're getting there. I've also got bids in for some manuals and bits and pieces (like foot peg rubbers etc). If you see a fairing going cheap - let me know!
  3. OK - started new thread in the classic's forum here: Cheers. AlwaysCurious
  4. Hiya chaps and chappettes. I've purchased this old clanger and I long to turn it from tragic to magic. I've introduced myself in this thread So I've got this little bike sitting in my shed now. I've noticed on Ebay there are foot grips - yay! And I can get rear lens, from the same shop. Nice. Any idea where I can get a schematics diagram or even better a workshop manual? And - anyone got a fairing for sale? Ideally I'd like to get this fella stripped down, re- powder coated in brand new colours - get the seat re-done, re-chromed etc. Should be a fun project! Here's the pictures of the bike to date: and a picture of what it should look like: And here's a picture of the parts I need 1) Right hand side (kickstart side) Rear Cover (behind fuel tank) and knurled bolt to hold it. 2) Right hand side cover (With or without stickers) 3) Fairing 4) Luggage Rack front 5) Lens for indicator (2, right & left)
  5. http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/news/2002/05/20/mate.html Seems in Japan they were still selling this in 2002 (not same model) wonder if the parts were interchangeable?
  6. Bingo. It's the last one. 1971 V50D. Now onto parts. yes rare. Need fairing at least!
  7. Righto chaps. I found the Frame Number (VIN?) V50-409135 Picked up the bike today: What I noticed so far. Sold in Maryborough QLD! WH Wilcox. Front tyre is 2.25 -17, as is the rear. Has a mikuni Carb. Missing inspection plate off magneto cover. The key takes a B203 , and the frame lock key takes a 203 as well. Could be a CY-80??
  8. Heheh. Spoiling the view That's probably why the owner wants it gone! Yeah those kinds of Palm trees are pretty common too, so he's probably going to chop that out once the bikes been moved! WRT to the 'sunburn' not sure if that's a dodgy photo or not. Right now I don't care too much. $25 and a new project sounds good to me. ($25 is about 9 British Pound). Sounds like it could be a fun project. If it's something that actually gets running it might be a re-spray job.
  9. Hiya chaps & chappettes. First time here in the yamaha Owners Club. Whilst I'm not yet an owner, I am going today to purchase a scooter. I know very little about it - but I do know a) it's about 1970 it's got compression, and the spark plug's still in - no spark however c) it looks OK for it's age d) I'm mechanically apt - so I should be able to get it going Some pics here: and the other side I'm not paying too much for it - the fella just wants to get rid of it. I've done it before -taken a chance. I bought this old dirt bike for $70 and got it up and running, and a classic Kawasaki road bikeand got it up and running on the road. The thing I've found is these types of forums are 100% invaluable!! So with this one - I'd really love to know more about the scooter. Are there sites you can download manuals? Any scooter lovers here willing to share experiences on how to get one running? What about parts for these babies? I'm looking forward to the challenge, and looking forward to 'meeting' a whole bunch of people on this forum. (I often wonder if I'm the only one who registers on multiple forums and does multiple projects accross multiple brands, or whether people are more of a 'I'm a 1 brand kind of guy' thing?) Cheers, AlwaysCurious
