  1. Sounds like mine at the moment, but i get a pop now and then when at about the same revs and then keeps cutting out. I also get a very big drop in power when trying to pull away in first. Other probs with it but they all relate to the loom. I have a 94 YZF with a hiccup thats driving me nuts
  2. Thanks guys, I will check these things out first. I have had heating problems with the bike since getting it a few years ago but it seams that it is a common fault with the bike due to the size of the Rad Now all I have to do is find a lock-up to work on it
  3. I have been having a few probs with my YZF. My first thought was the head gasket so bought one but garage wanted to eliminate other thoughts first, ie, carbs, so had those cleaned by sonic vibration taken apart and so on, put back on bike all posible air leak areas checked, all went well, still back fired after, loudly, but bike seamed ok when pulling away then it started to play up again after a few days use. Now it is back to how it used to be before the carb cleaning. Hard to start but when started there seams to be a dull clunk noise now like one of the pistons is being pulled through its cycle by the others also the smell of petrol/not firing on piston stroke feel to the bike, it pops at low revs/just above tick-over, like a back fire but not out of the exuast but seams to come from the front of the bike, ie a few strokes then pop, again a few strokes then pop, so on, between the pops still the sound of the piston going through the motion huge lack of power when trying to pull away, will only do it at high revs with the risk of wheel popping up at front. The lack of performance is very noticeable in all gears when moving. I know that i have a corroded loom, (socket connections) due to living very near the sea, another loom in process but not yet finished, the popping above happens about a min after start-up, maybe less but is constant as above. I still think that it could be the gasket as told to me by another biker, are we right?, could this be the prob?, I have the gasket but no garage to do the work in myself and I do not wish to pay the price i was quoted which was £150+labour. Any advice will help on other things to look for, apart from whats known, unless you "deff" know its the head gasket. I really would love to just point at the place where the prob is and just fix it
  4. Hi All Have just got my YZF back on the road (three/four weeks ago) but now have a prob that just cannot be found or pin pointed to one spot. I have been told by the guy that did the MOT that it could be a number of things that add up to one, both electrical, but would take him a while to find the right fault. This is what happens when riding the bike. Around Town - When in this situation all can be ok but then all of a sudden the engine would just die at a junction and be a bitch to start or I can be just going along at a steady 30mph and then have no power but would pick up again like it had kangeroo juice in the tank, more noticed in higher gears as i would have to drop down to third or fourth all the time, second/third in a 20mph area even with clear road. Out of Town/Open Road - I have a lot of dual bypass where I live and know what the bike can do on it but not now, this is where it is more noticed when riding, 60mph plodding along and then nothing, again no power, revs die down, ease back on throttle and then it will start to pick up again so long as I very slowly start to open throttle again, gone is the time where I could drop it down a gear or two and then hit the throttle to over take to hit the next clear bit of open road. Sometimes it would just do it and then, yes you guessed it!, lack of revs, loss of power and speed, this is not good fun when I have just over taken something also doing 60mph and then have to think about whats coming up my rear while the bike has a hippy fit, it's like there is no electrical power being returned to the bike, no heart beat to keep the stroke going when feeding the blood of life. The bike has started to back fire since being back on the road, but only now and then, or when over reved. Idle speed differs from 800 to 1500, then back to 800 and so on all the time, was set to 1100 dead and was set like this up untill November last year 2012, new MOT in June 2013. Usual bits and bobs done for the MOT, no probs, tyres, oil, filters, brakes, plugs. All done passed. When I picked the bike up I was told that thay didnt have the right plugs for my bike but had fitted other plugs that had the same specs which fitted. Since these knew plugs have been fitted i smell the engine flooding when trying to start it, very strong smell of petrol, it never was before. What advise can you give me here?, forget it or fit recommended. As for the main prob, my first thought was that the Exup valve might be on its way out or sticking as it did start giving me the signs of this, but eliminated this by hitting the bypass with a 100mph and the only time that it has done it since, with the prob i have now I am lucky to get to 90mph. It feels like an electrical prob to me but i dont know what to look at first with the amount of time on my hands at the moment (limited) Have you had these probs, if so please help Thanks Mark
  5. Thanks Pete, i will give that a try today. Will let you know how i get on
  6. I have just fitted a beaded brake line on my rear brake, all was working fine before i did this but now i have no back brake. I have bleed it correctly and when pumped the brake works but after no more than a minuet it's back to no brake, at the moment i have a screw driver wedged in to keep the rear brake lever down over night to see if it will get rid of any air bubbles. Anyone got any tips on this matter, the bike is a 93 YZF 750r Thanks Mark
  7. yes old u can get them like the pic from ebay but when u have to replace the tube due to wear and tear on the chrome it is sold sep from the other and yes u have to seperate them to replace i have the tube but cant find the other lol
  8. I am now stuck looking for new parts, i have my new stanchions and have removed one of the old ones but when looking at the mess that is left behind after the last person to do any work on the front forks leaves no doubt that they must have used the hole tube of tread locking compound putting the old stanchions in. What is left of the fine thread of my up-side down forks leaves me in no doubt to replace the bottom part of my forks that the stanchion gose in, now here is where i keep getting a blank, to me there wheel brackets that the spindal gose through holding the wheel in place but when i look online find nothing! so i must be wording it wrong, i know what i am looking for but nothing look anything like it. The bike is a 93/94 YZF 750 r. Any help would be great in what i am looking for Thanks Stay safe!

  11. Hi All Have just got my bike back from its service YZF 750 r now ready for its long trip to the TT this year, (well so i thought) was told when i picked the bike up that i had a leak in my front fork, it can be fixed with new seals but as the chrome is pitted where the seals rub then these new ones wont last as long as they should, advice given was to replace the left fork, (theres nothing wrong with the right). Am i right in thinking that i need a left inner sleeve or is there some other tech name for it?...... Thanks for ur help RIDE SAFE!
