    Well done Dave, take care.
  3. Hi Chossy and a very warm welcome to the YOC, nice one mate and I'm sure someone will have just the fix you need. Lots of guys on here who are stuffed full of useful bits of knowledge plus there are a few who are stuffed with someting else but let's not go there!
  4. Hi AD, might be nice if you did an INTRO mate not just rock up and start asking questions, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out AFTER you have introduced yourself, a LOT of guys on here work on the theory that if you give "NO INTRO you get NO INFO". Having said that it might be an idea to list a few of the things you have done so no one duplicates what you've already done, if it's only doing 50mph then there is certainly something wrong you just need to give more details. Don't be put off by not getting an answer straight away you just need to say Hi first, their nice people on here but wary of strangers and one hit wonders.
  5. Hi Chossy, As this is your first post mate it should be and INTRO not a question, plus if your mate has a Yam then why doesn't he join himself and save a lot of hassle, that said it's kind of you to try to help him out but really it's putting the cart before the horse if you have to run back and forth with answers that might come in. Plus we only have your word that you are in fact his mate and not the guy who stole it!! no offence meant and none taken I hope but you could be anybody and we could be helping you to steal his bike. Plus on here a lot of people WILL NOT give advice without an intro, to coin a phrase "NO INTRO NO INFO.
  6. With a bit of luck it MIGHT just be the old pin you put back in that caused the problem if so you should still be able to reuse your piston even if you have to replace the rings, always try to be positive mate there's enough shit in the world without making more of your own. Good luck.
  7. Try here **************might work for you. Edited by Airhead sorry no can do, Alex posted a sticky not to post links for free manuals, i dont suppose there is anything wrong with links to paper copies though
  8. Hi Fazer, welcome to the YOC, always nice to have new people to talk to.
  9. Hi RSC, welcome to the YOC, always nice to have a keen biker onboard, stay safe.
  10. Hi Regressing, what a handsome old bike, hope you get it up and running mind you it could do with a bit of a scrub down first, as my old mechanic used to say "you work in shit your work is shit".
  11. If you didn't have bad luck you would have no luck at all Kieran, sorry to hear your bike is in the shitter, hope it is something small and inexpensive.
  12. No blowtorch then use your oven, gas mark 6 (15mins) and cool the broken nipple thread with and ice cube.
  13. Hi Cameron, Welcome aboard.
  14. Hi Brian, Welcome to the YOC, big hairy chested bike you have there, assuming it is the 1300, nice to have some photos. P.S. Photos of the bike Brian NOT your chest thank you.
  15. Lead loading is where you melt solder over the joint or seam that you want to hide and then file it back smooth, used to be used on a lot of old American cars to make them look nice and smooth at the shut lines and around the light clusters, easy to do but a bugger to get off if you get it wrong.
  16. Welcome to the YOC, always nice to breath life back into an old bike and give it a chance to run again, plus it gets you out of the house and away from er indoors.
  17. Hi Andy, Welcome to the YOC, got to "WORKSHOP" section and post there any questions you may have, plus remember if you learn someting everyone else might like to know bung it in the "BAR".
  18. Hi Iceman, welcome to the YOC, Love the intro (well done) always nice to have a born again biker back in the fold, jump in and help out where you can.
  19. Hi Mondaymya, If your trying to flog your old bike try ebay, this is NOt the place for you.
  20. Hi Eric, Welcome to the YOC, just to let you know mate this area is for your intro not questions. So please be kind enough to redo your intro and then ask your questions in the "WORSHOP" section of the site. That said it would be better if you were to give some indication as to what sort of bike it might be you are asking about, just saying "I bought a bike" does not give much in the way of information to go on is it in fact a YAMAHA and if so what style is it Cruiser/superbike/moped? You see the problem I hope. Plus just to add salt to the wound would you walk up to a bunch of strangers and start asking questions? We like to know who we are talking to and we do get a LOT of one hit wonders on here who expect advice for free and then bugger off never to be heard of again, some don't even have the common courtesy to say thank you when you have helped them out. You will find on here that they are nice people and they like to help out but as some say "NO INTRO NO INFO.
  21. I have fully comp cos they offered free cover for clothes and helmet and it was only £30 more than TPFT plus I get £40 cashback after 30 days and full rider legal cover, mind you I am probably 300 years older than you and as such not the same risk (ha ha yeah right!) you can insure your self on the cheap but if you have a knock your on your own regarding repairs and replacement, at least with fully comp your going to get something back I suppose.
  22. Welcome to the YOC mighty mule, good luck with your project someone on here will have a fix or work round for you I'm sure.
  23. Keiran, check the obvious things first, just cos the noise is on deceleration don't mean it's the actual engine that is rattling, what else did you take off and did you retighten everytihng when you put it back, check your tank mounting rubbers and anything that might be metal to metal before you start thinking about restripping the engine. And ask a mate to listen to it for you as well WITHOUT telling them where you think the noise is coming from they might just spot something you missed.
  24. I prefer to be on the crapper when I shit but each to his own I suppose.
