  2. Hi Bikecrazy, just had a look on my works computer and i havnt a wiring diagram on this one so it will be on a hard drive at home, give me some time and i will sort something out. Pics of my last resto which is my sons 81 xt. TTB
  3. What a steel , well done there with the bargain. TTB
  4. I have a TL125 that sometimes has a sticking slide due to it being tightened more on one side than the other, it maybe wort slacking the nuts off and tighten them up equally while twisting the throttle, if it binds , slacken off the nut and tighten the other and work them up gently. TTB
  5. Remeber heat is your friend when trying to remove rusty bolts, if there are studs broken off the try welding a nut onto whats left of the stud then turn left and right in short motions, you may need 6 or 10 attempts before the stud comes out. Done this loads of time and only had to drill a few stuborn ones out, left had drill bits are good as well. TTB
  6. Oooh! what XT is that Foamy. TTB
  7. They look knackered to me , and over time you will find the balls will have flat spots and the chrome de-laminates on the races.
  8. I would also agree , check for the earth wire near the back light , the neutral light only works by supplying an earth to a peg on the drum selector. Do the indicators work and the horn, has there anybody had there sticky fingers inside the headlight or has there been some bodged wiring. All the wires are colour coded so light green / blue on the neutral wire could end up getting swapped to green on the rear light depending were the wires are located. Just a thought. TTB
  9. It did take 3 months but did need an overall on the top end , my lad also run it through the winter so it needed doing after that. TTB
  10. Its Jacks bike my sons i have restored for him , early frame number 1981 model . This was the video we did on the strip down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbQZSn3XPHU TTB
  11. The later XT and most of euro models had pumper carbs , US model was 80 or 81 onwards for the pumper carb. TTB
  12. Yes there is a fair bit missing , this is what it should look like. TTB
  13. Nice collection there , there rear guards you can still find but the front ones are hard to fing in good nick, TTB
  14. Posted on the other site but yes the large screw at the bottom of the carbhe one you cant get to for burning your fingers on the exhaust is the air mixture screw. One important thing is the make sure the o ring between the bowl and the main carb body is good and not missing, also worth checking that the fuel pump is working and the diaphragm is OK. Sounds like it running week if its missing at high rpm. TTB
  15. These should be the correct ones your fitting so no adapter as they screw into the clamp, The ones on my lads restored XT are original items that came as standard on the bike. TTB
  16. Yep got to admit it was a good show , dry all Saturday and even managed to get a few XT bargains. Lots of nice bikes again. 17. Hi Guys , yes just like my trail bikes and theres always someone happy to look after my house and bikes while im away. I am thinning the collection down to make room for couple of others including the Paris dakar bike, originally i wanted to build something special but didnt know what, cafe racer maybe , HL500 maybe then it came to me ho have ago at the PD bikes, so thats what started me off. Anyway mcferreira100 good to here you got your bike running better , if it lickes back, more likely than not it may have been too much fuel, maybe tick over screw intitially too high. TTB
