  8. This is the Mum in her ex RAF outfit ,it still had the wings on when they bought it. The New Triumph Tiger 100 taken in 1950 the year befor they married.
  9. I was thinking the other day what made me like motorbikes. None of my 3 sons are into bikes althought Matt my oldest (27) has just bought a ped to comute on and Al had an Aprilia ped when he was 16. My Dad had bikes because no one his age had cars back then and his dad was the first in his street to have a car. Dad got into bikes ,more than just comuting .he had various bikes an Aerial 350 being one his favorites, his first new bike was a Triumph Tiger 100 which he sold to put a deposite down on his first flat.My Uncle Harry had a Vincent Black Shadow, and dad and his mates Spent all there spare time(when not playing football) racing around the North circular and out to the Beehive or Spiders web. Mum had a Second World War flying suit and goggles she wore on the bikes. I've found some great photos of them back in the day with there bikes and mates. They toured all over including Lyton and Lynmouth during the floods. My Cousin and his Kids are all into bikes and trails. I think sitting on my Dads Velocette(at the age of three) with My Uncle Dan who was on a visit from Dublin was my start to biking. This photo was taken by Dad outside our first house 5 Ranock Avenue Kingsbury(which was a nice quite suburb of London at the time 1956). So What got you into bikes.?
  10. Did another track day a couple of weeks ago Snetterton 300 a fantastic track,The XJ is so much fun .Fitted a tail tidy, front fender extender and some LED incators. Also a set of roller adjust levers.
  11. I had a fantastic ride on Sunday, got in about 11.30 pm having covered 700 miles and a 6 hr stopover in Paris to watch the last stage of the worlds toughest sporting event. Cav(mark Cavendish)aka the Manx Missile the first Engish rider to win the Green Jersey, and Cadel Evans the first overall Aussie winer. Cav is now on 20 stage wins and the 5th on the all time list. The Divvy(I hate that name) ran without fault and the saddle comfort is so much better than the Fazer 6(FZ6) saddle. I wonder why Yamaha did not call it the FZ6R in the UK as it is the replacement for the FZ6(Fazer) in the UK and calling the XJ6 Diversion just makes everyone think its the old Divvy bought upto date. Parked up Avenue Grande Armee near the Arc De Triomphe, can't imagine parking like this for free in London, by the Ark there where bikes parked all over the paths. This is just the other side of the Arc ,The Champ Elysees and is the top Turnig point on the final time trail. Took a cross country route back to the west coast along the banks of the river Seien ,then headed north. Stopoff for lunch and leg strech, why are French laybys so much better than ours.
  12. 2 more booked today ,we may add a meeting point at lake side on the way down . John
  13. The 4th Waltham Forest College ride out. July 24th 2011 Meet at the Euro Tunnel Folkestone terminal(duty free shopping toilets food etc) Building no later than 8.30 am (Last Booking in time is 8.50am ) for the 9.20am crossing (35mins) £28 return. From the French side we will head south on the D940 coast road towards Boulogne. This road is a stunner once passed Sangatte with some great views over to the White Cliffs of Dover with a series of hairpins and hills that make Laguna Seca look tame!! .We are open to ideas of what to do and where to go after reaching Boulogne. At the first of several 2nd WW Mueseums on the D940 there is a Cafe to stop and get a drink etc where we can plan the rest of the day. We need to be back for check in at Euro Tunnel Calais by 19.50 for the 20.20 departure( French time which is 1 hour in advance of us)Arriving at Folkestone at 19.55 UK Time.
