  1. Thanks boys, much appreciated. I will get both sorted asap as there is no excuse not to use the bike more often in this mild weather.
  2. Just got my bike back from MOT and there are 2 advisory items on the certificate: Handlebar mounting slightly deteriorated Steering movement slightly 'notchy' I feel a bit silly being clueless about this but what does it actually mean? Presumably I don't have to do anything about either of these urgently but it would be good to know what it is all about. Thanks in advance.

Lucinda. I don't know why, it just suits her.
  4. Anyone coming to this?
  5. I think we are talking about the same screw. It won't turn.
  6. This diner opened only a few months ago and they have regular biker meets. I went for special biker breakfast this morning and there were not many bikes at all, so I thought I'd promote the place a little. The food is ok, and it's like a mini Ace Cafe, so quite nice. It's just off A12 near Witham. I hope to see some of you there at the regular Wednesday biker meets. The 8 Ball Diner
  7. My bike stalls when idling even with hot engine, so I have to keep increasing the revs a bit when stationary. I tried to turn the throttle stop screw a tiny bit to remedy this but it won't turn. I didn't manage to look under the rubber protective thingy but it feels like as if it was corroded. Is there any way to get the existing screw to work or do I need to change it? If the latter, how do I go about it? Is it difficult and should I take it to a garage instead?
  8. Well, I bought my baby drag for £1000 and it is definitely worth having. So you can get a good 125cc Dragstar for less than £1500, although certain element of luck is necessary.
  9. Just got round to doing this now - I swear this switch hasn't been cleaned since the bike was new (it is 10 years old)! We did have to take the switch apart and whack a lot of WD40 on it but it did the trick! Thanks for your help.
  10. The indicator switch on my XVS125 is really stiff when I try to turn off the indicators and I always have to check the indicator light under the speedo that the indicators are turned off. Do I need to take the switch apart to clean it or is there any other way to deal with the problem? If I need to take it apart, please could someone tell me how to do it? There is nothing about it in the manual. Thanks for your help.
  11. Well, I am not going in the end - I forgot I am in Holland that weekend. What a dumbass!! Have a great time - I am jealous.
  12. Anyone going? This will be the first proper outing with my baby drag, so I personally can't wait. Also, has anyone been in previous years? What did you think? (bad day, can't even spell 'show' in the title properly!)
  13. That's the one, cream teradrops on the tank.
  14. No way! Mopeds are girls' bikes! There is no such thing as an unusual bike for a girl. Just out of interest, what does your boyfriend ride?
  15. Thanks for all the tips and the welcome. Chris - if you could get back to me with the make of the chrome polish, that would be great. My other half is a PT Cruiser fanatic and the club member, so a fair amount of chrome polishing going on there too (mainly the wheels) but he himself is still looking for THE polish. As for riding it in winter, I don't feel hugely confident riding it in the summer! If it's nice, of course I'll take her out (I prefer winter to summer, so the cold won't bother me in the slightest). But snow and ice - NO WAY!!! I guess it's the same issue as with cars, if nothing else it will at least have to be started up every week or so. Paul, I will get back to you about the parts - as she is only coming home tomorrow morning I will look at it closely and I'll post close up pics, so you can see if the parts you have for sale are in a better condition. The worst bit is definitely the chain and sprocket cover though.
  16. She is the wine/ cream combination colour. Thanks for the tips, I have heard that Autosol is a bit too abrasive but I also heard good things about it, so I'll give it a go. It is not worth to re-chrome her (it's definitely a girl, haha), the rust is really not bad at all. She will be garaged during the winter, so I suppose that will help to keep her all pretty. I will be on a lookout for the second hand covers as the current ones really spoil the look and I don't know what would work on it except sandpapering the bubbles down and respraying the plastic. I might give that a go as it can't get much worse than it already is.
  17. Hi Brand new member of the forum, brand new biker and brand new owner of a baby drag - xvs 125. She has some minor surface rust on some of the chrome parts and some of the chrome plastic parts have bubbled up, particularly the chain cover. I would like to give her a little beauty treatment but was hoping you could give me a recommendation on a good surface rust remover, chrome polish and if there is any way to get rid of those horrid bubbles (if there is a way). I am sure I will be asking more questions in the days to come as she is coming home only on Saturday, so closer inspection is bound to reveal some other issues. A complete beginner here. Thanks.
