    VMX Report

Ended up driving the YamaHauler to Woodland on Saturday.....as I took a mate of mine who's never been to that track yet.....he's a BMX freak & loves MX in general.....needless to say......he loved it!! Again, the FrankenBike Hodaka was there.......went well too! A girl actually raced this old Beast..... GOT TO BE 1 of the Cleanest old KX's I've ever seen Evidence of the new class structure is starting to show..... Not necessarily "Vintage", but a slick bit-o-kit......Rotax powered......& built here in the states Sez it all ...... Those were the only still shots I took this time (for a change)...... Now for some real action..... Highlight of the day for us ThumpJunkies...... PE-armed XT500 w/ a sweet pipe...... Rider was GOOD......led his heat from the drop of the gate..... Spanked all the smokers in his heat & was the only bike to get air here ......... My mate & I are now going to try a joint-effort to bring my carcass CR250 project back to life.
  3. Woke up to 3-4 inches of snow this morning
  4. Got my new Special mocked-up the other day....... thinkin' a Wheelie-Bar might in order here? .......
  5. Hi Rob, Dropping that motor out & having a good look into it on a bench would more than likely save you alot of grief....believe me, I know this 1st hand.....with my XT6. Nayruf is on the right track by suggesting you check into the valve timing first.....if your tensioner was missing when you got it.....good chance that cam-chain has jumped a tooth. Not a difficult task to correct....plus, if the motor is out of the frame, you can check the combustion chamber easier.....and have a look into the clutch while you're @ it. Pull those clutch plates apart....clean & re-oil them before re-installing. Regarding the carb.....make sure your choke is working properly as well.....tends to help more when starting cold. Also, make sure & get a tight seal @ the intake rubber.....can also cause back-firing. Don't get discouraged.....it's well worth it in the end. Good Luck
  6. Being a former 400F owner.......those are My sentiments EXACTLY!
  7. After a long battle with a vertical learning curve ......I finally got my Beast back on the road last week.... Happy to report that she accelerates harder than I ever remember.....the headwork & exhaust mod(so far) proved successful! A quick mock-up with the Kerker can I plan on employing.... & now a week later......she's still reliable like a well-oiled machine should be ......
  8. "Go Ahead.....Make My Day"...... ........
  9. I use a Scott No-Fog cloth on the inside (actually made for ski goggles) ......& plenty of car wax on the whole exterior of the helmet.... Worx Awesum!
