  1. Ok so I have changed the condenser and still nothing. I am definitely getting fuel to the cylinder as proven by what a friend called the match test, spark still looks good. Someone has suggested overfuelling/flooding how do o overcome this? Pilot screw is set at 1 1/2 turns but no luck. Kicked bike over for a while and got a big pop (with flame) from the carb which was open at the time. With this nice weather I am desperate just to go for a ride. Please any ideas?
  2. As usual HELP!!!!!! my yb had just passed its mot, then it began missing at the top of second third and fourth. Then throughout third and fourth. it slowly faded from there. Now it just won't start. I have checked the spark and it looks good, I have looked at the fuel system and again looks good. Spoke to someone who suggested the condenser. Is this possible and how would I check. I appreciate that you guys have much more knowledge and experience with these (usually) great bikes, so any input is appreciated
  3. After much cussing I found that the key had been damaged, the points were out ( probably due to being whacked by a sodding great nut) and after sorting that the bike ran fine thanks again fosdyke
  4. Hi all need some quick advice. I have my MOT soon and I have recently noticed my throttle has stopped returning, this is great on a long ride cause I can stretch my hand for a bit when numbness kicks in, but I don't think mr ministry will see it that way. Is there a quick fix I can do here as I have already needed new suspension front and rear, new tires and a new horn thanks in advance Charlie
  5. Hi fosdyke, thanks for the advise, I removed the flywheel cover i think (round cover behind gear lever) and found that the nut and both washers had come off and the flywheel was jammed by the nut. i did not look for a keyway but i gather there should be one to arrange the correct timing. I am getting good compression and fuel, still not sure about the spark due to the balmy weather we are having. any more ideas would be very welcome.
  6. Hi all, I am new to the site but i need help. I have recently passed my cbt and to celebrate i bought one of my childhood favs, unfortunately on about the 3rd journey out i was forced into a puddle and 500 yards later the engine cut out. first thoughts were that i had water in the engine. so, i left it to dry over night. then decided it must be something more. First thing i checked was the spark..... no spark, I have so far changed the plug, coil and HT lead (didn't realise it was an all in one unit, got laughed at) but now a friend has asked if it has points, as this may be the root of my issue. I have done some browsing and i now know that it does indeed have points. I dont have any manuals of any kind. Can anyone out there give me a clue how to get to the points. my girlfriend has given the ultimatum "get it going or get it gone" and i dont want to lose my bike.
